Is Bitcoin mining starting to lose the battle against AI compute?
In this video we dig into the shrinking economics of Bitcoin mining, the next halving, rising network competition, and why some of the biggest mining companies are redirecting power, infrastructure and investment toward AI and high-performance computing.
We look at TeraWulf, Core Scientific, IREN, Bitdeer, Riot Platforms, Hut 8 and others moving deeper into AI/HPC. One of the biggest examples is Riot’s roughly $9.1 BILLION, 20-year AI data-center agreement — averaging about $1.25 million per day in contract revenue across the initial term.
Then we estimate how much Bitcoin hashrate could potentially leave if major public miners continue shifting toward AI. Based on the companies examined in the video, roughly 128.5 EH/s represents about 14% of a 918 EH/s Bitcoin network.
Would less institutional hashrate make home Bitcoin mining more viable? Or are halving rewards, rising difficulty and AI contracts permanently changing the mining industry?
