Claude AI Predicts the ‘Flippening’: How Does Ethereum Finally Overtake Bitcoin?
Anthropic’s Claude AI predicts a bold move for Ethereum over the next few months that could end with the long-awaited ‘Flippening’, whereby ETH overtakes BTC as the leading digital asset.
For this to happen, Claude notes a specific catalyst that could send Ethereum parabolic and start its move to overtake Bitcoin. Ahead of today’s FOMC meeting, ETH is trading around $2,350, with a market cap of $287Bn, while BTC is at $80,800 and valued at $1.62 trillion.

Claude AI Predicts the Flippening: What is the Catalyst?
Imagine the Treasury Department, working with DTCC and a coalition of the biggest banks, announces a pilot that grows into something much larger.
New Treasury issuance, a market north of $28 trillion, will settle on Ethereum mainnet through tokenized securities. Every settlement, collateral transfer, and repo trade now burns ETH for fees, and primary dealers need ETH on hand and staked to run validators for institutional-grade finality.
ETH stops being a speculative tech token and becomes the fuel for the world’s most important bond market. It’s unlikely, but not impossible. Tokenization pilots already exist, and this is just the maximalist version.
Ethereum Technical Analysis: What Does the Chart Say?
Ethereum is trading around $2,340, sitting almost exactly on its $2,310 realized price (the average on-chain cost basis) and the 200-day EMA at $2,315, which is a classic washed-out floor.
That’s a long way down from the all-time high of $4,946.05, and sentiment is poor, with $1.26 billion in spot ETF outflows in October, near a monthly record.
But momentum is stalling: price is hugging the lower Bollinger Band near $2,302, well below the SMA 20 midline at $2,420, which is where bases form.
Supply is also tightening, with exchange balances down 169,770 ETH on October 23 alone. Now take the swing from the $2,310 floor to the $4,946 high, a range of about $2,636.
The 1.618 extension is about $6,575, the 2.618 is about $9,211, and the 3.618 is about $11,847. The 4.236 extension, the traditional “mania” level, comes in at about $13,477.
With a circulating supply of 122.17 million ETH, that implies a market cap of roughly $1.65 trillion, about where Bitcoin’s market cap sits today. Your flippening trigger is also a Fibonacci level.

How Does the Flippening Play Out?

The flippening, when Ethereum’s market cap passes Bitcoin’s, is a game of ratios. With about 20.1 million BTC and 122.17 million ETH in circulation, ETH needs to trade at roughly 16.5% of Bitcoin’s price to pull even.
Today Bitcoin is near $80,840, and ETH is around $2,350, so the ETH/BTC ratio is only about 0.029. In this scenario, it would have to rise about 5.7x to roughly 0.165 or higher. That sounds absurd, but the catalyst attacks the ratio from several angles at once:
Bitcoin has no equivalent demand driver. People hold BTC as a store of value. ETH becomes a consumable input to the bond market, so every settlement burns some of it through the fee-burn mechanism, and every dealer desk has to source it.
The float shrinks while demand surges. Validators lock up ETH, exchange balances are already falling, and institutions buying for operational use aren’t the kind of holders that sell into a rally.
ETH is productive collateral. Staked ETH earns yield, and BTC doesn’t, so a bond desk choosing a reserve asset for on-chain settlement picks the one that pays.
Capital rotation feeds on itself. Today, ETH’s market cap is only about $288 billion, compared with Bitcoin’s roughly $1.6 trillion. Pricing in a $1.3 trillion gap doesn’t require $1.3 trillion of net buying, because on a thin float a fraction of that capital reprices the whole supply.
As ETH/BTC climbs, ratio traders pile in, and in a few weeks, that ratio can go from 0.029 to 0.165. There’s one catch. This works only if Bitcoin holds roughly steady while ETH runs. If BTC rallies alongside it, ETH has to run even further to catch up.
Claude AI Predicts a Huge ETH Move: The Big Reveal
On January 1, 2027, Ethereum trades at $13,500. That’s a gain of more than 475% from today’s price, putting ETH’s market cap at roughly $1.65 trillion, just edging past Bitcoin’s roughly $1.6 trillion.
The bond-market announcement lands in Q4 and breaks the base at $2,310, and ETH then screams through the $4,946 high as institutions scramble for the fuel their new settlement rails run on.
Meanwhile, staked and locked supply shrinks the float everyone else fights over. The year-end close at the 4.236 extension would be the moment the flippening stops being a meme and becomes the headline: ETH, not BTC, is the world’s biggest digital asset.
