The largest crypto hack in history may have just happened, at the largest exchange in the world. On the evening of October 29, 2026, billions of dollars started leaving wallets labeled as Binance hot wallets. In this video I break down what’s confirmed, what’s still a guess, and what you should do right now.
WHAT WE COVER
– What happened: Binance hot wallets drained over roughly 40 minutes, with loss estimates from about $2.8B to $5.8B depending on the source. Binance has not published a loss figure.
– Binance says it is investigating a potential security issue and that user funds are safe. It has not formally called it a hack. CZ said it does look like one.
– Tether and Circle froze over $2.3B in stablecoins, and Binance cites $2.54B frozen. Frozen is not the same as recovered.
– The possible cause: an EIP-7702 transaction, with the attacker’s setup address funded through Tornado Cash. How the attacker got the signature is unknown, and no group has been credibly named.
– Is it the biggest crypto hack ever? Compared with the 2025 Bybit hack (about $1.46B).
– Safety: fake "unlock your funds" scams, self-custody, and why miners should check where their pool payouts go.
