The Ethereum network was just attacked by an unknown assailant. This attacker slowed down the speed of blocks by about two to three times what it normally takes to process a transaction, with a "Denial of Service" style assault.

In this video, I attempt to describe the issue, as well as the short, medium, and long-term fixes that have been suggested by Vitalik Buterin, and the Ethereum Foundation team.
