Bitwise<\/a> officially<\/span> filed<\/a><\/strong> the S-1 form for its spot Dogecoin (DOGE<\/a>) exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Jan. 28.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, Cboe<\/span> re-filed<\/a><\/strong> the 19b-4 forms to trade Solana (SOL<\/a>) ETFs from VanEck<\/a>, Canary<\/a>, Bitwise, and 21shares<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart<\/a><\/span> highlighted<\/a><\/strong> that the market expected the move from Bitwise as they registered a DOGE trust last week.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that this is not a potential \u201cslam dunk\u201d with a chance of definitely getting approval by the SEC. Yet, Seyffart<\/span> stated<\/a><\/strong> that the regulator\u2019s new administration could treat DOGE-related products differently.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas<\/a><\/span> highlighted<\/a><\/strong> Bitwise\u2019s use of the 1933 Act to file for its Dogecoin product. This is the same legislation that BlackRock\u2019s<\/a> spot Bitcoin<\/a> ETF, the IBIT<\/a>, came under.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, a 19b-4 form for Dogecoin ETF trading should be filed, which Seyffart<\/span> believes<\/a><\/strong> will happen soon.\u00a0<\/span>Despite being a memecoin, DOGE is the 8th largest crypto by market cap, priced at $0.32 as of press time per <\/span>CryptoSlate<\/span><\/i> data. It registered nearly $2 billion in trading volume for the past 24 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan<\/a> recently told the Financial Times that DOGE\u2019s market cap and liquidity justify its inclusion in an ETF.<\/span><\/p>\n

Third try<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Another significant movement in the US crypto ETF landscape was the Cboe re-filings for trading Solana ETFs.\u00a0<\/span>Seyffart<\/span> explained<\/a><\/strong> that the previous ones, which were Cboe\u2019s second try, were denied.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a<\/span> late 2024 prediction<\/a><\/strong>, Seyffart and Balchunas expect Solana ETFs to be approved in the US. However, exchange-traded products tied to assets such as Litecoin (LTC<\/a>) and Hedera (HBAR<\/a>) will potentially be approved first.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose Investments and 3iQ Digital Asset Management<\/span> filed<\/a><\/strong> for Solana ETFs in Canada yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Balchunas<\/span> stated<\/a><\/strong> that Canada will probably beat the US in approving a spot Solana ETF. There is a 35-year trend of the US filing first but being beaten by Canada on launch due to \u201cmore liberal regulators.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, he highlighted that things could be different, as the new SEC administration\u2019s approach to the filings is unclear.<\/span><\/p>\n
