North Carolina is the most recent US state to introduce a strategic Bitcoin reserve bill. That\u2019s not only good news for Bitcoin \u2013 it\u2019s great news for the entire crypto market, including meme coins.<\/p>\n

North Carolina Speaker of the House Destin Hall announced on X<\/a> that he had filed the North Carolina Digital Assets Investments Act (HB 92). This would effectively authorize the State Treasurer to invest in digital assets to create a reserve fund, thereby diversifying the state\u2019s investments.<\/p>\n

This, he added, aligns \u2018with President Trump\u2019s vision for a national Bitcoin stockpile and ensuring North Carolina leads at the state level.\u2019<\/p>\n

The proposed bill allows the use of state funds to invest in exchange-traded products<\/a> (ETPs) linked to digital assets as long as those assets have an average market capitalization of at least $750B. And those investments cannot exceed 10% of the state\u2019s total funds.<\/p>\n

The Great Migration to Strategic Bitcoin Reserves Amid the US Crypto Rush<\/h2>\n

This recent move by North Carolina brings the number of US states currently with a bill proposing crypto investment legislation to 19.<\/p>\n

So far, North Dakota is the only US state where a proposal for a strategic Bitcoin reserve has been rejected.<\/p>\n
