No display, DRAM light on, A6 errors, CMOS reset didn&#8217;t work and Q-Flash didn&#8217;t solve it.<\/p>\n<p>That left one option: pull the CMOS battery.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Gigabyte put the battery in one of the worst possible locations imaginable. Getting to it meant removing the RAM, NVMe drive, motherboard backplate, heatsinks and multiple tiny screws just to reach a simple battery.<\/p>\n<p>But after tearing the motherboard apart, the story took an unexpected turn.<\/p>\n<p>The CMOS battery wasn&#8217;t actually the main problem. One of my RAM sticks appears to have failed.<\/p>\n<p>And that led to an even more interesting discovery.<\/p>\n<p>After getting the system running again with only ONE stick of DDR5, my Ryzen 9 7950X3D was still producing around 20.89 kH\/s mining Monero \u2014 actually slightly higher than some of my comparable AM5 rigs running two sticks.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve always talked about dual-channel RAM being extremely important for RandomX \/ XMR mining, especially on AM4.
