{"id":14056,"date":"2025-02-20T06:31:46","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T06:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=14056"},"modified":"2025-02-20T06:31:46","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T06:31:46","slug":"meme-coin-meltdown-crypto-community-turns-against-speculative-tokens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=14056","title":{"rendered":"Meme Coin Meltdown: Crypto Community Turns Against Speculative Tokens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>As highly speculative meme coins continue their inevitable plunge, crypto executives and analysts have been throwing their thoughts into the arena, and they are not very complimentary.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSome meme coins have clearly gone too far lately, to the extent people are insider trading,\u201d said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, before adding, \u201cThis is illegal, and people should understand that you will go to prison for this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn every crypto cycle, there is a get-rich-quick crowd that comes and goes and learns this lesson the hard way,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Meme Coin Madness<\/h2>\n<p>However, Armstrong was not fully critical of meme coins, arguing that \u201cthey\u2019ve been with us since the beginning,\u201d referring to Dogecoin.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMeme coins are a canary in the coal mine that everything will be tokenized and brought onchain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">On memecoins\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Memecoins have generated a lot of buzz recently, and I\u2019ve gotten some questions on how I think about them. I am personally not a memecoin trader (beyond a few test trades), but they\u2019ve become hugely popular. Dogecoin (DOGE) is down by 65%, Shiba Inu (SHIB) has lost 82%, PEPE has plunged by 66%, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/how-one-crypto-trader-sniped-trump-at-launch-and-made-109-million-bubblemaps-investigates\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">TRUMP<\/a> has tanked by 77%, and both BONK and FLOKI are 73% down from their peak prices.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the biggest loser from the meme coin <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/meteora-exec-resigns-amid-financial-misconduct-claims\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">fiasco<\/a> has been the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/solana-sentiment-hits-monthly-low-is-a-big-bounce-ahead\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Solana network<\/a>, which has been the go-to place to mint and trade them.
