In this video, I troubleshoot two Bitaxe Gamma 601 Bitcoin miners that can no longer run at their stock settings without overheating.

Both miners were running well below their expected hashrate, and when I restored their default frequency and voltage, their ASIC temperatures quickly climbed until AxeOS automatically downclocked them.

The suspected problem? Thermal paste.

I tear down one of the Bitaxes, remove the heatsink, inspect the thermal paste application, clean the BM1370 ASIC and heatsink with isopropyl alcohol, apply fresh thermal paste, and put everything back together. Then we fire it back up at the exact same settings to see if it actually fixed the overheating problem.

The result was a huge improvement — but after doing the same repair to my second Bitaxe, I got a very different result that might point to another issue.

If your Bitaxe is overheating, thermal throttling, showing a high hardware error rate, or not reaching its expected hashrate, this is an easy troubleshooting step worth checking.

Tools & supplies used in this video:
🛠️ iFixit Toolkit: https://geni.us/k1t0Sf
🤧 Science Tissues: https://geni.us/vVQ5L
🍻 Isopropyl Alcohol: https://geni.us/6DF4K1
🌡️ MX-6 Thermal Paste: https://geni.us/M4xAlh

Links:
🟠 Bitcoin Solo Mining Calculator: https://redfoxcrypto.com/solo/

Chat with me:
👋🏻 Discord: https://discord.gg/Kaf4dDXGJz
💬 Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/redfoxcrypto

0:00 Bitaxe Overheating & High Error Rate
0:47 Why AxeOS Is Downclocking My Bitaxe
1:41 Diagnosing Bitaxe Overheating
2:21 How to Take Apart a Bitaxe
4:08 Checking the Bitaxe Thermal Paste
4:28 Cleaning the BM1370 ASIC & Heatsink
5:17 How to Apply New Thermal Paste
6:42 Reassembling the Bitaxe
7:25 Bitaxe Thermal Paste Fix Results
8:32 Testing My Second Overheating Bitaxe
9:19 Why Is This Bitaxe Still Running Hot?
10:16 Bitaxe Overclocking & Auto-Tuning

#Bitaxe #BitcoinMining #SoloMining #HomeMining #ASIC

Is your Bitaxe overheating, running a high error rate, or automatically lowering its frequency in AxeOS?
