{"id":14904,"date":"2025-02-25T14:31:57","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=14904"},"modified":"2025-02-25T14:31:57","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:31:57","slug":"grayscale-files-for-polkadot-etf-adding-to-portfolio-of-offered-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=14904","title":{"rendered":"Grayscale Files for Polkadot ETF, Adding to Portfolio of Offered Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Grayscale Investments, a crypto asset-management company looking to add XRP and Cardano exchange-traded funds to its offerings, is now starting down the route for an ETF investing in Polkadot&#8217;s DOT token as well. <\/p>\n<p>Nasdaq has filed a formal Form 19b-4  request with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list and trade shares of the Grayscale Polkadot Trust (DOT). The filing starts a 45-day review period for the regulator to acknowledge the filing. The regulator can approve, or disapprove the application or extend the review period.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, Grayscale, which already offers bitcoin and ether ETFs, has filed with the SEC to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/31\/grayscale-files-sec-proposal-to-convert-xrp-trust-into-etf\" target=\"_blank\">convert its XRP Trust<\/a> into an exchange-traded fund, and filed to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/02\/10\/grayscale-files-for-cardano-etf-its-first-standalone-ada-product\" target=\"_blank\"> list a spot Cardano ETF<\/a>. These filings come as the SEC pivots to a more friendly approach to the digital asset industry under the Trump administration, having recently dropped numerous crypto-related investigations, including against Robinhood and non-fungible token marketplace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/02\/22\/sec-drops-opensea-investigation-easing-pressure-on-nft-market\" target=\"_blank\">OpenSea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Grayscale has never offered a standalone Polkadot product. The filing sees it join crypto asset manager 21Shares, which late last month filed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/2054247\/000121390025008848\/ea0229226-s1_21shares.htm\" target=\"_blank\">list a spot Polkadot ETF<\/a> with the SEC as well.<\/p>\n<p>Polkadot\u2019s DOT is at the time of writing trading at $4.4 after losing 6.7% of its value in the last 24-hour period amid a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/02\/25\/bitcoin-slides-below-usd89k-to-3-month-low-as-nasdaq-futures-dip-japanese-yen-sparks-risk-off-fears\" target=\"_blank\">wider cryptocurrency market downturn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grayscale Investments, a crypto asset-management company looking to add XRP and Cardano exchange-traded funds to its offerings, is now starting down the route for an ETF investing in Polkadot&#8217;s DOT token as well.
