The blockchain component would operate behind the scenes, supporting transfers between financial partners.<\/p>\n<p>That model matters because merchants already understand card payments. Asking them to adopt entirely new wallet software would be a much harder commercial proposition.<\/p>\n<h2>Not A New Card For Every Coinbase Customer<\/h2>\n<p>The announcement concerns technology that other businesses can use to develop their own programmes. It should not be confused with the immediate launch of a finished payment card for all consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Nor does blockchain settlement remove ordinary card-network fees or regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the arrangement illustrates where stablecoin adoption may be heading.
