Bitget is entering<\/span> the partnership to expand to emerging markets as part of its broader vision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This partnership will ensure users can make fiat-to-crypto deposits using the Rand. Bitget is looking to offer more incentives, like discounted fees, to onboard more users and expand into the South African market. A new study by the country\u2019s Financial Sector Conduct Authority <\/span><a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fsca.co.za\/Regulatory%20Frameworks\/Documents\/Market%20Study%20-%20Decentralised%20Finance%20in%20South%20Africa.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">estimates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the country\u2019s decentralized finance sector will grow to $180 million in the next three years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study focused on crypto service providers and is intended to help the regulator better understand them. DeFi is a broad term covering various forms of blockchain enterprise. It has created a secondary market on the blockchain beyond just offering a speculative crypto asset. As of late February, over $97 billion of assets were locked in various DeFi protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nigerian Crypto News: Coinbase expands P2P services, Government sues Binance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coinbase has <\/span><a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CoinbaseWallet\/status\/1894135787483963502\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">partnered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with Onboard Global to make peer-to-peer payments in Nigeria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This collaboration marks Coinbase\u2019s entrance into the Nigerian market. The modalities of this partnership will be more evident with time. Nonetheless, it is a significant milestone for Coinbase, which is largely unavailable across Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nigeria has the largest population in Africa is fertile ground for crypto entrepreneurs. An unstable currency and a vibrant informal economy make it especially ideal for crypto adoption. Coinbase relishes expanding this market when the sector is ready for a boom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, even after their recent comeback, the government is suing Binance for $81 billion, saying the exchange <\/span><a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/africa\/nigeria-seeks-815-bln-economic-losses-back-tax-against-binance-court-document-2025-02-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">violated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> their tax laws and contributed to devaluing the Naira. The global exchange has denied these allegations and will appear on trial on Monday to answer charges of money laundering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, one of Binance\u2019s executives, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tigran Gambaryan, was detained for over six months.
