However, the case against Ripple remains ongoing more than four years after its start.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> expert sharing his theory of why the legal battle has <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">still not officially ended is James Murphy<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> The attorney, who uses the X moniker MetaLawMan, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MetaLawMan\/status\/1895899204134060538\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">thinks<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the company might be \u201ctrying hard to get the SEC to agree to vacate some or all of Judge Torres\u2019 decisions.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of the magistrates\u2019 rulings (from last summer) <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-fined-125m-in-lawsuit-against-sec-xrp-price-soars-20-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">states<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that Ripple violated <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">certain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> rules and should pay a fine of $125 million. The XRP army and the firm <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">itself<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> interpreted the order as a clear victory since the SEC previously insisted on a $2 billion penalty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Murphy also sees the decision as \u201cgreat\u201d for XRP holders but suggested that the findings that Ripple has breached some laws \u201cis not so great\u201d for the company\u2019s reputation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThis is particularly true if Ripple is considering a future exempt securities offering or IPO. I believe the SEC would have accepted a settlement \u2013 where both sides dismiss their appeals and the SEC takes the $125 million penalty \u2013 in a heartbeat,\u201d the expert added.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018Ripple and the SEC Live Together and Have a Baby\u2019<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Another person who recently <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">chipped in on<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the matter was <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> American attorney Jeremy Hogan.<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-heres-why-a-quick-resolution-is-unlikely\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">opined<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that the case between Ripple and the securities regulator is more complicated than the rest and would <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">most<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> likely <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be resolved<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> after a settlement rather than dismissed.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe SEC broke up with Coinbase after a\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">couple<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> dates. Ripple and the SEC live together and have a baby,\u201d he stated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eleanor Terrett (a journalist at Fox Business) agreed with the thesis. She <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EleanorTerrett\/status\/1892958285973872970\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">claimed<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that the Ripple lawsuit is \u201cmore procedurally complex\u201d than the one against Coinbase because Judge Torres has already ordered a $125 million penalty on the company.
