He said he will continue to buy Bitcoin, despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/digital-assets\/2025\/03\/04\/el-salvador-bitcoin-accumulation-needs-to-stop-imf-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">opposition<\/a> of some sectors\u2013the International Monetary Fund included.<\/p>\n<p>Bukele stated that purchases will continue even though the IMF, as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/News\/Articles\/2025\/02\/26\/pr25043-el-salvador-imf-approves-new-40-month-us1-bn-eff-arr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">$1.4 billion funding deal<\/a>, urged the nation to cease amassing Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>The president still plans to acquire one Bitcoin every day, which validates his conviction that the world\u2019s top crypto asset will eventually help his country.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\u201cThis all stops in April. This all stops in June. This all stops in December. No, it\u2019s not stopping,\u201d Bukele said in an X post.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>IMF Wants Bitcoin Purchases To Stop<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The IMF has been vocal about its concerns regarding El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin adoption. It believes that continuing to buy Bitcoin poses risks to the country\u2019s financial stability. The organization has recommended that El Salvador avoid using public funds to acquire more of the cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these warnings, the country has already made significant gains. With Bitcoin\u2019s price reaching new highs, El Salvador\u2019s holdings have reportedly turned profitable. Well, at least, for now.<\/p>\n<p>Estimates suggest that El Salvador could be sitting on unrealized profits exceeding $30 million. While this may not be enough to solve the country\u2019s financial challenges, it strengthens Bukele\u2019s argument that Bitcoin is a valuable asset for the nation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/x\/LF8FMr4q\/\" width=\"1835\" height=\"883\"><br \/>\n<strong>Bukele Dismisses IMF Warnings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bukele has repeatedly played down anxieties from international financial institutions. He thinks that adopting Bitcoin will be good for El Salvador\u2019s economy in the long run, giving more people access to money and more investment possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>However, the IMF is still not sure. It has noticed that Bitcoin\u2019s price has been going up (and down, for now) lately, but it also pointed out that price fluctuations could quickly wipe out any gains. The Fund told El Salvador to focus on policies that work with traditional banking systems and limit its use of Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin Future Remains Uncertain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The long-term result is yet unknown even while Bukele is advancing his Bitcoin strategy. The government\u2019s Bitcoin blueprint has generated both enthusiasm and controversy. While some worry about the risks involved, others view it as a bold decision that might draw in investors.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Bukele appears determined to continue accumulating Bitcoin.
