It will be kept as a store of value. The Reserve is like a digital Fort Knox for the cryptocurrency, often called \u2018digital gold\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Just a few minutes ago, President Trump signed an Executive Order to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>The Reserve will be capitalized with Bitcoin owned by the federal government that was forfeited as part of criminal or civil asset forfeiture proceedings. This means it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Sacks (@davidsacks47) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidsacks47\/status\/1897802280738734236?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">March 7, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>No Buying More Crypto<\/h2>\n<p>Sacks also said that premature sales of BTC \u201chave already cost US taxpayers over $17 billion in lost value\u201d before adding, \u201cNow the federal government will have a strategy to maximize the value of its holdings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The EO also establishes a US digital asset stockpile consisting of crypto other than Bitcoin forfeited in criminal or civil proceedings. However, the government \u201cwill not acquire additional assets for the stockpile\u201d beyond those obtained through forfeiture proceedings, he said.<\/p>\n<p>This means that it will not be buying Ethereum, XRP, Solana, or Cardano, as Trump mentioned earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/industry-executives-criticize-shitcoin-inclusion-in-trumps-proposed-crypto-reserve\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">concept was ridiculed<\/a> by several industry executives and analysts after it was proposed by Trump on March 2 because he mentioned a handful of altcoins that many prominent Bitcoiners labeled as \u201cshitcoins.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump promised to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile. Those promises have been kept,\u201d Sacks concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Crypto Market Tanks<\/h2>\n<p>It appears that the crypto market is also deriding the notion that Uncle Sam will be stockpiling digital assets as it has tanked by more than $200 billion, or 5%, since the announcement, despite analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/3-reasons-why-us-crypto-reserve-proposal-is-bullish-despite-flaws-bitwise-cio\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">calling it bullish<\/a>.
