Recall that it dismissed or paused numerous lawsuits against crypto entities, including Binance, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/coinbase-ceo-boasts-about-sec-lawsuit-dismissal-is-ripple-next\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Coinbase<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Kraken, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/uni-defies-market-sentiment-as-sec-closes-uniswap-labs-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Uniswap<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and more. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">its most notorious case against Ripple remains ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Recently, the attorney Fred Rispoli <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/freddyriz\/status\/1898076512311509158\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">said<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> he has a new theory on the legal battle. He sees \u201cno reason why the current 2-1 pro-crypto Commission wouldn\u2019t drop the appeal and keep the $125M judgment in place.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The multi-million penalty refers to Judge Torres\u2019 decision from last summer. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Back<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> then<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, she<\/span> <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-fined-125m-in-lawsuit-against-sec-xrp-price-soars-20-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ordered<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Ripple to pay the amount for violating <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">certain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> rules.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> The company\u2019s execs were ready to settle the bill, but the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/sec-provides-details-with-last-minute-appeal-in-ripple-xrp-ruling\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">filed<\/a> a last-minute appeal, thus prolonging the lawsuit indefinitely. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Its<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> reaction was rather expected since <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the fine<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> represents just a fraction of the $2 billion the SEC initially asked for.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rispoli assumed that Ripple\u2019s team might be waiting for Paul Atkins to step in and drop or reduce the figure. Atkins, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/why-is-ripple-xrp-plunging-when-trump-picked-pro-crypto-sec-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">nominated<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> by President Donald Trump to serve as Chairman of the SEC, has yet to take the helm and should first receive the Senate\u2019s confirmation. Currently, the agency is spearheaded by Mark Uyeda, who has previously shown support for the cryptocurrency sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Over the past few days, there has been increased speculation that instead of paying the $125 million penalty, Ripple might send the equivalent amount in XRP to the strategic crypto reserve that Trump recently announced. Rispoli gave his two cents on the matter, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/freddyriz\/status\/1898121562827420096\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">saying<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt\u2019s possible, but the way we have been moving incrementally, I doubt this is a likely scenario.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Other Opinions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Earlier this month, American attorney James Murphy <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-why-the-battle-remains-unresolved-expert-insight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">suggested<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that the case could still be unsolved because the firm might be \u201ctrying hard to get the SEC to agree to vacate some or all of Judge Torres\u2019 decisions.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He sees the $125 million penalty as \u201cgreat\u201d for XRP holders but maintained that the findings that Ripple has breached some laws \u201cis not so great\u201d for the company\u2019s reputation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Meanwhile, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> former White House official Anthony Scaramucci <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/is-the-ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-over-this-former-white-house-official-thinks-so\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">believes<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that the lawsuit is over.
