He <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/gary-gensler-officially-out-what-does-it-mean-for-ripple-xrp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">stepped down<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on January 20 and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">was succeeded<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> by Mark Uyeda, who has an entirely different stance on the digital asset industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A few months ago, US President Donald Trump <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/why-is-ripple-xrp-plunging-when-trump-picked-pro-crypto-sec-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">appointed<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Paul Atkins to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">take the helm at<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the agency. However, he should first receive the Senate\u2019s confirmation. The popular attorney, Fred Rispoli, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-update-march-9th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">believes<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that Ripple might be waiting for him to step in <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">charge so he can potentially drop or reduce<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0the previously ruled $125 million penalty on the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Recall that Judge Torres <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-fined-125m-in-lawsuit-against-sec-xrp-price-soars-20-immediately\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">ordered<\/a> the firm to pay <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the amount<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for violating <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">certain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> rules. The sum represented just a fraction of the $2 billion the SEC initially asked for, and Ripple\u2019s execs were ready to pay the fine. However, the Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/sec-provides-details-with-last-minute-appeal-in-ripple-xrp-ruling\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">filed<\/a> a last-minute appeal in October 2024, thus prolonging the case indefinitely.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Gensler\u2019s departure is not the only change in the SEC\u2019s leadership. Not long ago, the regulator <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/important-ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-update-february-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">transferred<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> one of its top crypto litigators \u2013 Jorge Tenreiro \u2013 to its IT division. He joined the watchdog more than a decade ago and signed the aforementioned notice of appeal against Ripple.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">John Reed Stark (former director of the SEC Internet Enforcement Office) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/is-a-pause-in-the-ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-imminent\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">claimed<\/a> that Tenreiro\u2019s allocation could be one <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">of the reasons<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> why the Commission might soon pause or fully withdraw all of its appeals against crypto entities.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cYet, this SEC trial lawyer, who championed the victories of Coinbase and Binance, is now glaringly absent from both the Coinbase and Binance pleadings, ordered to pack his pencils and legal pads and transfer to the SEC\u2019s IT department,\u201d Stark stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Have We Missed the End?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Another well-known individual who recently touched upon the Ripple v. SEC lawsuit is Anthony Scaramucci. Earlier this month, the former White House official took part in an interview, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/is-the-ripple-v-sec-lawsuit-over-this-former-white-house-official-thinks-so\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">placing<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the legal battle among those <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> regulator has already dismissed. The <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">host of the conversation<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Scott Melker (known as The Wolf of All Streets), agreed with this assumption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, no official information shows that the two entities have shaken hands on a mutual agreement or reached a settlement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In fact,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> some legal experts have predicted that the resolution will not be that simple, claiming that this battle is much more complex than the rest involving the SEC and crypto entities.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe SEC broke up with Coinbase after a\u00a0couple of dates.
