The US Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed its decision to approve several XRP, Solana, Litecoin and Dogecoin exchange-traded funds.<\/p>\n

In a slew of filings<\/a> on March 11, the agency said it has \u201cdesignated a longer period\u201d\u00a0 to decide on the proposed rule changes that would allow the ETFs<\/a> to proceed.<\/p>\n

Among the affected ETFs are<\/a> Grayscale\u2019s XRP (XRP<\/a>) and Cboe BZX Exchange\u2019s spot Solana (SOL<\/a>) ETF filings<\/a>, with the decisions on them pushed until May.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart said<\/a> in a March 11 X post that while the SEC just \u201cpunted on a bunch of altcoin ETF filings,\u201d he didn\u2019t see it as a cause for concern. \u201cIt\u2019s expected, as this is standard procedure.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added that US President Donald Trump\u2019s pick to chair the SEC, Paul Atkins, \u201chasn\u2019t even been confirmed yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis doesn\u2019t change our (relatively high) odds of approval. Also note that the final deadlines aren\u2019t until October,\u201d Seyffart said.<\/p>\n

Fellow Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas also chimed in, saying that \u201ceverything [is] delayed,\u201d including ETFs featuring Ether (ETH<\/a>) staking and in-kind redemptions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Un early December, Trump picked pro-crypto businessman and former SEC Commissioner Atkins<\/a> to be the agency\u2019s next chair. However, congressional confirmation hearings are yet to be scheduled.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time the SEC has extended an ETF decision deadline. On Feb. 28, it extended the deadline for Cboe Exchange\u2019s request<\/a> to list options tied to Ether (ETH<\/a>) ETFs.<\/p>\n

This followed the SEC receiving a raft of altcoin ETF filings<\/a> in the wake of Trump\u2019s election and the resignation of former SEC Chair Gary Gensler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gensler\u2019s time at the SEC came with what the industry said was an aggressive regulatory stance toward crypto<\/a>, with 100 crypto-related regulatory actions during his tenure from 2021 until his resignation on Jan. 20.<\/p>\n

Since Gensler\u2019s departure, a growing number of firms facing legal action from the regulator have had their cases dismissed, including crypto exchange Gemini <\/a>on Feb. 26 and crypto trading firm Cumberland DRW on March 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, acting SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda<\/a> has also proposed abandoning part of a rule change<\/a> that would have expanded regulation of alternative trading systems to include crypto firms.<\/p>\n
