{"id":17412,"date":"2025-03-12T13:46:45","date_gmt":"2025-03-12T13:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=17412"},"modified":"2025-03-12T13:46:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T13:46:45","slug":"mexc-ventures-invests-36m-in-ethena-and-usde-as-stablecoin-demand-continues-to-surge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=17412","title":{"rendered":"MEXC Ventures Invests $36M in Ethena and USDe as Stablecoin Demand Continues to Surge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>MEXC Ventures, the investment arm of crypto exchange MEXC, is investing a total of $36 million into Ethena and its USDe stablecoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2025\/03\/12\/3041374\/0\/en\/MEXC-Ventures-Invests-36-Million-in-Ethena-USDE-to-Accelerate-Stablecoin-Innovation-and-Mass-Adoption-of-Cryptocurrency.html\" target=\"_blank\">according to a press release<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The firm is making a strategic investment of $16 million in Ethena and bought $20 million in USDe stablecoin to expand the adoption of synthetic dollars in decentralized finance (DeFi) and offer an alternative to fiat-backed stablecoins, the statement said. <\/p>\n<p>The move comes after Ethena, the developer of USDe, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/02\/24\/usde-stablecoin-developer-ethena-raises-usd100m-bloomberg\" target=\"_blank\">raised $100 million last year<\/a>, which was backed by Franklin Templeton and Fidelity Investments-affiliated F-Prime Capital, among others. <\/p>\n<p>Known as a synthetic stablecoin, USDe is unlike traditional stablecoins like USDT and USDC in that it is not backed 1:1 by fiat assets. Instead, it maintains its peg by collateralizing stablecoins and taking futures positions with large open interest. <\/p>\n<p>USDe&#8217;s market cap has risen to nearly $6 billion, while more traditional stablecoins currently have market caps above $50 billion, according to CoinMarketCap data.
