{"id":18329,"date":"2025-03-20T18:04:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T18:04:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=18329"},"modified":"2025-03-20T18:04:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T18:04:42","slug":"tether-ranks-among-top-buyers-of-u-s-treasuries-in-2024-firm-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=18329","title":{"rendered":"Tether Ranks Among Top Buyers of U.S. Treasuries in 2024, Firm Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Tether, the crypto company behind the largest stablecoin USDT, said it would rank as the seventh largest net buyer of U.S. Treasury securities in 2024 among countries.<\/p>\n<p>The firm purchased a net $33.1 billion worth of U.S. Treasury securities last year, according to a compilation <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/paoloardoino\/status\/1902689997766922318\" target=\"_blank\">posted<\/a> on Thursday by CEO Paolo Ardonio using data from Tether&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/tether.to\/en\/transparency\/?tab=usdt\" target=\"_blank\">reserve reports<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ticdata.treasury.gov\/resource-center\/data-chart-center\/tic\/Documents\/slt_table5.html\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Treasury Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That puts the stablecoin issuer above countries like Canada, Mexico and Germany in the ranking, while Japan and China were net sellers by significantly reducing their U.S. Treasury holdings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.sanity.io\/images\/s3y3vcno\/production\/0a0da48e6a93f9b61a4c286c041f0d7df82ffffa-3968x2136.jpg?auto=format\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>The data underscores the case of U.S. dollar stablecoins being a key force of demand in the U.S. government debt market. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said earlier this month that crypto and stablecoins are key to preserve the U.S. dollar&#8217;s global dominance.
