After the US presidential elections, the entire landscape in the States changed for the better, and being situated there and sued by the local securities regulator for four years, Ripple was among the biggest beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>The native token\u2019s name was even <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/xrp-ada-sol-skyrocket-by-double-digits-in-minutes-after-this-trump-endorsement\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">mentioned<\/a> by the new US president to be included in the country\u2019s strategic crypto reserve. Reports <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/sec-reportedly-considering-classifying-xrp-as-a-commodity\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">emerged<\/a> that the same regulator that sued the company for selling an unregistered security in the form of XRP has now contemplated classifying it as a commodity.<\/p>\n<p>And to top it all off, just a few weeks after that, Ripple\u2019s CEO Brad Garlinghouse <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/they-knew-these-wallets-loaded-up-on-xrp-before-ripples-sec-win\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">declared a victory<\/a> in the aforementioned legal case against the SEC. All eyes are now on the potential approval of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/is-grayscales-ripple-trust-the-way-toward-a-spot-xrp-etf-in-the-us\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">an XRP ETF<\/a>, which could complete a stellar year for Ripple and its community.<\/p>\n<p>All of that sounds like good news, right? Well, XRP\u2019s price indeed went on a spectacular run after the elections. However, it failed to breach its 2018 all-time high despite <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-missed-new-ath-by-just-1-can-xrp-break-through-today\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">matching<\/a> it in January and has since fallen by 30% in spite of all the positive developments mentioned above.<\/p>\n<p>This points to a classic \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/unpopular-opinion-is-it-actually-time-to-short-ripple-xrp\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">sell-the-news<\/a>\u2018 moment for XRP, which rallied on the hype of regulatory changes and closure in the SEC case but failed to materialize on the actual changes and victory in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<h2>Is XRP About to Drop?<\/h2>\n<p>Unlike the overall bullish sentiment and the multiple mind-blowing price predictions for XRP\u2019s future, Ali Martinez outlined a highly controversial take that foresees a substantial crash for the asset.<\/p>\n<p>He believes the recent price pump-and-dump by XRP has created a head-and-shoulders pattern that could result in an immediate correction of up to 50%.
