{"id":18787,"date":"2025-03-24T14:02:04","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T14:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=18787"},"modified":"2025-03-24T14:02:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T14:02:04","slug":"sam-altmans-world-network-in-talks-with-visa-for-stablecoin-payments-wallet-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=18787","title":{"rendered":"Sam Altman\u2019s World Network in Talks With Visa for Stablecoin Payments Wallet: Source"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>World Network, the blockchain-based ecosystem built to extend the functionality of biometric identification system Worldcoin, is in talks with card giant Visa to link on-chain card features to a self-custody crypto wallet, according to a person familiar with the plans.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to bring Visa card functionality to World Network wallets, delivering a range of fintech and FX applications, fiat on and off-ramps, as well as allowing stablecoin-based payments to thousands of merchants around the world that are part of the Visa network.<\/p>\n<p>Tools for Humanity, the company cofounded by Open AI CEO Sam Altman that oversees Worldcoin and World Network, sent out a request for product form to card issuers, which was seen by CoinDesk.<\/p>\n<p>World Network has been in talks with crypto card facilitators such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2025\/02\/26\/avalanche-visa-card-goes-live-aiming-to-further-the-mass-adoption-of-crypto\" target=\"_blank\">Rain,<\/a> a company backed by Coinbase and Circle that provides on-chain Visa cards for projects like Optimism and Avalanche.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan is to build up a whole connected wallet strategy so that you can trade in all kinds of things, from FX to crypto, load to wallet, send to wallet, spend from card,\u201d according to a source familiar with the plans. \u201cBasically to turn World Wallet into a mini bank account for anyone who wants it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Given Altman&#8217;s resources and general clout, &#8220;other wallet providers should be worried,&#8221; the source added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, World Network announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/world.org\/blog\/announcements\/introducing-world-chat-connect-send-money-real-humans-world-network\" target=\"_blank\">World Chat application and the ability to send money<\/a> in the form of crypto-based transactions between users on the network.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2023\/12\/13\/sam-altmans-retina-scanning-orb-to-become-more-useful-with-world-id-20\" target=\"_blank\">Worldcoin<\/a>, the iris scanning orb that collects biometric data for the network, has attracted more than its fair share of controversy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sama\/status\/1451203161029427208\" target=\"_blank\">since appearing in 2021.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Big card networks like Visa and Mastercard have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/03\/11\/with-mastercard-metamask-tests-first-blockchain-powered-payment-card\" target=\"_blank\">working with crypto projects<\/a> and wallet firms to explore ways their large networks can usefully overlap with the world of digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>Tools for Humanity declined to comment. Rain also declined to comment.
