Senator Lummis, Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets Chair, introduced the Boosting Innovation, Technology, and Competitiveness through Optimized Investment Nationwide<\/em> (BITCOIN) Act<\/a> in the U.S. Senate back in early March.<\/p>\n

That act looks to be the framework for the Bitcoin Reserve and the broader US approach to digital assets. Importantly, it pitches for the US to acquire 1 million bitcoins, approximately 5% of the world\u2019s total $BTC supply, over the next five years.<\/p>\n

And, it states this acquisition can be funded through the sale of Federal Reserve gold certificates.<\/a><\/p>\n

President Trump\u2019s own executive director of the President\u2019s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, Bo Hines, has also suggested that the US could leverage the sale of US gold certificates to fund the purchase of Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

This would still comply with the \u2018budget-neutral\u2019 caveat by not allocating taxpayer funds, while providing a way for direct purchases of $BTC by the US government. Could it also prompt a Bitcoin feeding frenzy?<\/p>\n

A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats<\/h2>\n

Already, there are signs of increased demand for Bitcoin, with a growing regulatory framework that is strongly pro-Bitcoin. That includes moves by multiple US states to introduce their own Bitcoin reserves or to clarify regulations that protect Bitcoin mining and digital asset security.<\/p>\n
