Now, though, Stuart Alderoty cleared the air.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The final crossing of t\u2019s and dotting of i\u2019s \u2013 and what should be my last update on SEC v Ripple ever\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the SEC agreed to drop its appeal without conditions. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ripple?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">@Ripple<\/a> has now agreed to drop its cross-appeal. The SEC will keep $50M of the $125M fine (already in an\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stuart Alderoty (@s_alderoty) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/s_alderoty\/status\/1904587116488917053?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">March 25, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Recall that US courts <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/xrp-price-explodes-16-as-judge-rules-in-favor-of-ripple-in-sec-case\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">slapped<\/a> Ripple last year with a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-fined-125m-in-lawsuit-against-sec-xrp-price-soars-20-immediately\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">$125 million penalty<\/a> regarding XRP\u2019s unclear status. However, the agency appealed as it initially sought $2 billion, which was far off before it withdrew its filing last week.<\/p>\n<p>Now, though, Ripple\u2019s Chief Legal Officer, Stuart Alderoty, informed that Ripple has also agreed to drop its cross-appeal. This means that the Securities and Exchange Commission will keep even less than half of the $125 million the courts ordered \u2013 just $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>Alderoty informed that the amount is already in an interest-bearing escrow account in cash. The remaining $75 million will be returned to Ripple.<\/p>\n<p>Although this is now subject to Commission vote, Alderoty seems convinced that this is the end of the lawsuit as he said this would be his last update on the topic, ever.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike last week\u2019s immediate surge after Garlinghouse\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/breaking-ripple-news-sec-will-drop-appeal-xrp-price-reacts\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">announcement<\/a>, when XRP jumped from $2.3 to $2.6 in minutes, this time, the asset remains relatively calm.
