Shares of <strong>Ford Motor Co.<\/strong> (NYSE:<a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/stock\/F#NYSE\">F<\/a>) fell 2.5%, while <strong>General Motors Co. <\/strong>(NYSE:<a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/stock\/GM#NYSE\">GM<\/a>) plunged 6.5%, with the latter marking the worst performance on the S&amp;P 500.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, U.S. electric vehicle makers rallied. <strong>Tesla Inc.<\/strong> (NASDAQ:<a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/stock\/TSLA#NASDAQ\">TSLA<\/a>) rose 2.6%, and <strong>Rivian Automotive Inc.<\/strong> (NASDAQ:<a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/stock\/RIVN#NASDAQ\">RIVN<\/a>) jumped 5%.
