Trading volumes have dropped nearly 90% since their peak, the team wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/mirror.xyz\/x2y2.eth\/85DG2KcKmJd1AiyXU7BU2yATys1hgxWWXju_pmESwYI\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a>, and X2Y2 struggled to maintain the network effects critical to marketplace success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarketplaces live or die by network effects,\u201d founder TP wrote in a post. \u201cAfter three years, it\u2019s clear it\u2019s time to move on.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>X2Y2 started up in early 2022 and reached $5.6 billion in all-time trading volume, according to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/tokenterminal.com\/explorer\/projects\/x2y2\/metrics\/trading-volume\" target=\"_blank\">TokenTerminal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.sanity.io\/images\/s3y3vcno\/production\/0a3d6f50f949f9fc6d01c1ed03c74cffa4a1dc39-1176x508.png?auto=format\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Smart contracts tied to the platform will remain operational, but users are encouraged to withdraw assets or transition activity by the shutdown date. The price of the marketplace\u2019s native X2Y2 token is down 10.7% on the announcement to now trade at little over $0.001.
