{"id":19996,"date":"2025-04-01T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T09:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=19996"},"modified":"2025-04-01T09:17:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T09:17:00","slug":"metaplanet-ups-bitcoin-holding-to-over-4000-btc-rakes-up-another-696-btc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=19996","title":{"rendered":"Metaplanet Ups Bitcoin Holding to Over 4,000 BTC, Rakes Up Another 696 BTC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Japanese hotel company Metaplanet (3350) has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Metaplanet_JP\/status\/1906974178038649333\" target=\"_blank\">purchased an additional 696 BTC<\/a> ($58.5 million), taking its total stash to 4,046 BTC. <\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet purchased the bitcoin for an average purchase price of nearly 14.6 million yen ($97,500) for a total spend of 10.15 billion yen.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s total BTC holdings were bought for an average price of around $86,500.57 per coin.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet financed its purchases in Q1 through the sale of cash secured BTC put options &#8211; futures contracts which bet on the price of the underlying asset going down.<\/p>\n<p>These options were written at the beginning of the quarter, when BTC was scaling all-time highs above $100,000. Metaplanet said it earned 770.3 million yen in revenue using this method.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Relative to direct spot purchase at that time, the strategy enabled the company to acquire more bitcoin per yen deployed &#8211; benefitting from premium income and a reduced effective cost basis,&#8221; Metaplanet <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Metaplanet_JP\/status\/1906975157098348990\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\">said in a statement on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet&#8217;s latest BTC purchase makes it the ninth largest public holder of bitcoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcointreasuries.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to data tracked by Bitcoin Treasuries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/3350.T\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo-listed shares<\/a> closed 2% at 409 yen on Tuesday, comfortably outperforming the Nikkei 225, <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/%5EN225\/\" target=\"_blank\">which was unchanged on the day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese hotel company Metaplanet (3350) has purchased an additional 696 BTC ($58.5 million), taking its total stash to 4,046 BTC.
