{"id":20185,"date":"2025-04-02T11:02:32","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T11:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=20185"},"modified":"2025-04-02T11:02:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T11:02:32","slug":"blackrock-secures-uk-fca-crypto-registration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=20185","title":{"rendered":"BlackRock Secures UK FCA Crypto Registration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>BlackRock managed to land on the Financial Conduct Authority&#8217;s tough crypto register on Tuesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/search?predefined=CA\" target=\"_blank\">regulators website showed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The world&#8217;s biggest asset manager will be allowed to act as an arranger for iShares Digital Assets AG, which issue Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) \u2014 a financial instrument that is pegged an underlying asset, in this case a crypto asset.<\/p>\n<p>Registration on the U.K.&#8217;s crypto register is not an easy feat. The FCA&#8217;s crypto register was set up in 2020 to ensure that crypto firms wishing to serve U.K. clients could only do so after they had registered to comply with the country&#8217;s anti-money laundering rules. The U.K. has received 368 applications but only 51 firms have been approved.<\/p>\n<p>As an arranger, BlackRock will be able to &#8220;arrange the execution of transactions in cryptoassets to support ETP subscriptions and redemptions&#8221; between issuers and authorized participants but it will not be able to onboard any new customers.<\/p>\n<p>Also, it <a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/firm?id=001b000000MfH8DAAV#what-can-this-firm-do-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\">will not be able to operate a<\/a> machine that &#8220;utilizes automated processes to exchange cryptoassets for money&#8221; vice versa &#8211; without written consent from the regulator.<\/p>\n<p>BlackRock joins the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/02\/03\/coinbase-secures-spot-on-uk-crypto-register\" target=\"_blank\">crypto exchange Coinbase<\/a> who recently managed to get on the register this year, though a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/03\/28\/uk-regulator-intends-to-start-authorizing-crypto-firms-in-2026\" target=\"_blank\">new crypto regime awaits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BlackRock managed to land on the Financial Conduct Authority&#8217;s tough crypto register on Tuesday, the regulators website showed.
