rel=\"null\" target=\"null\" text=\"null\" title=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/xrp-distribution-hits-record-level-as-the-altcoin-trades-below-3\">whale moves<\/a>, and reshuffling between exchanges. <\/p>\n<h2>Ripple is behind many big XRP transfers<\/h2>\n<p>One important factor behind the spikes in XRP\u2019s daily transfer volume is large token sales by Ripple and its co-founder, Chris Larsen.<\/p>\n<h3>Chris Larsen\u2019s XRP sales (2024\u20132025):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>On Sept. 18, he <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/whale_alert\/status\/1835820265550270582\">transferred<\/a> 50 million XRP (~$29 million) from a wallet inactive for 11+ years.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote million worth of XRP.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>These sales reduced XRP reserves on one of his wallets from 500 million to 410 million XRP.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Previously, the SEC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" text=\"null\" title=\"https:\/\/ripple.com\/insights\/q3-2018-xrp-markets-report\">sold<\/a> $163 million during volatile markets.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In Q2 2019, the firm <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ripple-sold-over-250-million-in-xrp-in-the-second-quarter-of-2019\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\" text=\"null\" title=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ripple-sold-over-250-million-in-xrp-in-the-second-quarter-of-2019\">sold<\/a> $251 million in XRP, one of its largest
