{"id":20581,"date":"2025-04-04T11:01:37","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T11:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=20581"},"modified":"2025-04-04T11:01:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T11:01:37","slug":"us-lawmakers-question-sec-acting-chair-about-trumps-crypto-ventures-in-new-letter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=20581","title":{"rendered":"US Lawmakers Question SEC Acting Chair About Trump\u2019s Crypto Ventures In New Letter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two Democrat US Lawmakers have sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acting chair, Mark Uyeda, asking about President Donald Trump\u2019s crypto businesses and potential conflicts of interest related to the Commission\u2019s regulations.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">US SEC Asked About Trump\u2019s Crypto Businesses<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Wednesday, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Maxine Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banking.senate.gov\/newsroom\/minority\/warren-waters-probe-sec-on-trump-familys-crypto-company-and-possible-conflicts-of-interest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">asked<\/a> the SEC\u2019s acting chair about potential conflicts of interest and whether President Trump\u2019s financial ties to the crypto industry through World Liberty Financial (WLFI) have influenced the Commission\u2019s and Uyeda\u2019s decision-making.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-439543 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=980&amp;resize=980%2C594\" alt=\"crypto\" width=\"980\" height=\"594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=1050 1050w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=640 640w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=768 768w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=980 980w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Captura-de-Pantalla-2025-04-03-a-las-11.19.11-a.-m.png?w=750 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\"><\/p>\n<p>The letter cites a recent investigation by Reuters, alleging that the US President, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump are \u201cdirectly affiliated with WLF, which has already raised over $500 million through token sales through an exempt securities offering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report also states that the presidential family \u201chas a claim on 75% of net revenues from those sales,\u201d meaning they could benefit up to $400 million from their crypto venture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As such, the lawmakers argue, \u201cThe Trump family\u2019s financial stake in World Liberty Financial represents an unprecedented conflict of interest with the potential to influence the Trump Administration\u2019s oversight\u2014or lack thereof\u2014of the cryptocurrency industry, creating an obvious incentive for the Trump Administration to direct federal agencies, including the SEC, to take positions favorable to cryptocurrency interests that directly benefit the President\u2019s family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senator Warren and Representative Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/sen-warren-questions-trumps-sec-chair-pick-about-crypto-regulations-ahead-of-confirmation-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener \">requested<\/a> the SEC Chair to \u201cpreserve and provide\u201d copies of all records and communications regarding WLFI at the Commission from October 15, 2024, until the present by April 14, 2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the letter, they also inquired about all records and communications related to the SEC\u2019s decision to pause its case against Tron founder Justin Sun and his affiliated companies, citing his $75 million investment into WLFI as a concern.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump Family Denies Conflicts Of Interest<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/sustainability\/boards-policy-regulation\/democrats-ask-sec-preserve-records-related-trumps-crypto-business-probing-2025-04-02\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">statement<\/a> shared with Reuters, a spokesperson for World Liberty Financial stated, \u201cIt\u2019s disappointing that Senator Warren is attempting to weaponize the power of the government to continue to harass and target the Trump family and our project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat\u2019s implied in the letter is completely disgusting, false, and dangerous.
