Over the weekend, US Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris acknowledged the crypto industry for the first time since her campaign started. The presidential candidate\u2019s \u201cflip\u201d has sparked a discussion among industry members and the community, who seem split about her newly disclosed stance.<\/p>\n

A Harris Win Could \u2018Not Be Bearish\u2019 For Crypto<\/h2>\n

As the US presidential elections approach, the Democratic nominee has been heavily criticized for not disclosing her stance on digital assets after the Biden-Harris administration\u2019s 3-year-long crackdown on the sector.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until Sunday, at a Wall Street fundraiser event in Manhattan, that the US VP pledged<\/a> to invest in America\u2019s future by encouraging investment in digital assets and artificial intelligence (AI):<\/p>\n

We will partner together to invest in America\u2019s competitiveness, to invest in America\u2019s future. We will encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets while protecting our consumers and investors.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

VP Harris also promised to work on a clear, consistent, and transparent set of rules to foster a safe business environment for the different industries in the US:<\/p>\n

Following Harris\u2019 apparent \u201cpro-crypto flip,\u201d QCP Capital suggested<\/a> on its Telegram group that her victory in November \u201cmay not be as bearish as the market thinks.\u201d The crypto firm noted that the presidential candidate\u2019s remarks, alongside the \u201cmacro tailwinds, gave crypto a boost to start the week.\u201d<\/p>\n

This boost made the flagship cryptocurrency\u2019s price retest the $64,000 resistance level in the early hours of Monday, which triggered almost $60 million in short liquidations, QCP reported.<\/p>\n

Community\u2019s Sentiment Split<\/h2>\n

The Democratic nominee\u2019s campaign had been slowly shortening distances from the industry by indirectly accepting donations in digital assets and being endorsed<\/a> by different industry figures.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Harris has seemingly been working with a group of crypto and Bitcoin advocates, including SkyBridge Capital\u2019s founder, Anthony Scaramucci. On Thursday, Scaramucci announced<\/a> at a panel at TOKEN2049 that they were collaborating with the presidential candidate to work on her campaign\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n

The entrepreneur also claimed they were trying to \u201cdistance\u201d the Democratic Party from industry foes like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Gary Gensler<\/a>, Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n

Despite this, neither Harris nor her campaign had made her stance on the crypto industry clear until Sunday. As a result, the community began discussing the market implications for the sector.<\/p>\n

Scaramucci wrote on X that Harris\u2019s remark \u201cmeans Bitcoin in every language.\u201d However, many criticized the lack of details on the policies that could affect the industry.<\/p>\n

Some crypto investors consider that the presidential candidate\u2019s vague approach isn\u2019t enough, suggesting that Harris may have to disclose and explain her stance before they \u201cbelieve her.\u201d Meanwhile, others think her VP\u2019s newly disclosed stance is a positive development for the sector.<\/p>\n

Variant\u2019s CLO Jake Chervinsky considers<\/a> \u201cthis is progress and progress is good\u2026\u201d but suggested he\u2019d wait for more details. Similarly, Alexander Grieve, Paradigm\u2019s vice president of Government Affairs, called Harris\u2019s comments \u201cencouraging.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Grieve believes<\/a> this \u201cshould be the last anti-crypto administration,\u201d regardless of the outcome.
