{"id":21047,"date":"2025-04-08T08:02:32","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T08:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=21047"},"modified":"2025-04-08T08:02:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T08:02:32","slug":"sec-readies-for-first-crypto-regulation-roundtable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=21047","title":{"rendered":"SEC Readies for First Crypto Regulation Roundtable"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The SEC\u2019s Crypto Task Force will host a roundtable titled \u201cBetween a Block and a Hard Place: Tailoring Regulation for Crypto Trading\u201d on April 11 at the regulator\u2019s headquarters in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>On April 7, it announced the agenda and attendees of the roundtable, which many industry observers and executives hope will usher in regulations for crypto in the United States.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHearing the public\u2019s concerns and suggestions helps the SEC create a clear, sensible, and fair path forward for the crypto industry,\u201d said Commissioner Hester Peirce, leader of the Crypto Task Force.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Crypto Regulations Coming<\/h2>\n<p>Peirce added that she is looking forward to this roundtable and the rest of the series \u201cas we move toward crypto clarity for the benefit of the American public.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">SEC announces agenda and panelists for roundtable on crypto trading: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RDQyWDlE8o\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/RDQyWDlE8o<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/T0ifWIRP3a\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/T0ifWIRP3a<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (@SECGov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SECGov\/status\/1909313001808671109?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">April 7, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The series of roundtable discussions were announced in March and include \u201cKnow Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody\u201d on April 25, \u201cTokenization \u2013 Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet\u201d on May 12, and \u201cDeFi and the American Spirit,\u201d on June 6.\u00a0They are open to the public both in-person via registration and via live webcast.<\/p>\n<p>Opening remarks will be from acting chairman Mark Uyeda, Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, and Commissioner Peirce. The main roundtable discussion is moderated by Nicholas Losurdo, a Partner at Goodwin Procter, and features diverse panelists, including representatives from traditional finance, crypto companies such as Coinbase, industry associations, and academic institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The move is a complete about-turn for the SEC, which has spent the past few years issuing lawsuits against American crypto companies.
