Trump\u2019s recent intensification of tariff policies and fears of even greater tariffs to come have ignited widespread concern among economists, investors, and policymakers.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, markets have crashed. Major indices experienced sharp declines: S&P 500 is down 11% over the past month, and the Dow Jones is down 10.6% over the same period.<\/p>\n

Crypto ETFs, New Crypto Projects Provide Potential Refuge<\/h2>\n

Despite Bitcoin\u2019s plummet on Monday, the world\u2019s leading crypto is already on the rebound.<\/p>\n

One reason Bitcoin has been hit less than during previous market disruptions \u2013 such as in the wake of COVID in 2020-2022 \u2013 is that the crypto economy is far more mature now.<\/p>\n

Today, the crypto industry has more sophisticated tools built to weather such volatility, one of those being crypto ETFs.<\/p>\n

To be clear \u2013 $BTC ETFs have taken a hit also, with outflows of $109.21M on Monday. But against a total traded value of $6.59B, that\u2019s a small percentage. And Monday\u2019s losses came after a two-week stretch where $941M flowed into the various $BTC spot ETFs.<\/p>\n

The crypto ETF world is bigger than $BTC and is about to grow even larger, despite the market uncertainty.<\/p>\n

For example, Tuesday, April 8 will see the launch of the first-ever XRP ETF<\/a> in the US. The 2x leveraged product from Teucrium. Ripple\u2019s flagship crypto, couldn\u2019t come at a crazy time.<\/p>\n

US President Trump\u2019s announcement of sweeping new tariffs, including a 10% baseline on all imports and higher rates for specific countries such as China and the European Union, provoked a backlash.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s swift retaliation<\/a> with equivalent tariffs only exacerbated fears of a full-scale trade war. \u200b<\/p>\n

Now, prominent financial figures are voicing their apprehensions. Bill Ackman, a hedge fund titan and ardent Trump ally, called for a 90-day pause on US tariff escalations.\u00a0He warned of an \u2018economic nuclear winter\u2019 characterized by diminished business confidence, halted investments, and widespread layoffs.<\/p>\n

The Federal Reserve has also expressed concern. Chairman Jerome Powell cautioned that the new tariffs might lead to stagflation \u2013 a scenario of stagnant economic growth coupled with rising inflation \u2013 making it challenging for the central bank to balance its monetary policy objectives.<\/p>\n
