{"id":22014,"date":"2025-04-14T15:17:28","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T15:17:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=22014"},"modified":"2025-04-14T15:17:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T15:17:28","slug":"google-to-restrict-crypto-ads-in-eu-to-mica-licensed-firms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=22014","title":{"rendered":"Google to Restrict Crypto Ads in EU to MiCA-Licensed Firms"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Search giant Google will only allow cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallets to advertise in the European Union if they hold a license under the EU\u2019s Markets in Crypto-Assets (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/learn\/what-is-mica-and-what-does-it-mean-for-crypto-users-in-europe\" target=\"_blank\">MiCA<\/a>) regulation, starting April 23, the company announced Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Google <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/adspolicy\/answer\/16089943?hl=en-GB&amp;ref_topic=16083443#:~:text=2025%29%20supportadvert%5B%E2%80%A6%5DCryptocurrency%20Exchanges%20and\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> advertisers must now obtain a certification from the company and demonstrate they are registered as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under MiCA. The company also requires advertisers to comply with any additional country-specific legal obligations.<\/p>\n<p>MiCA which covers all 27 EU member states, marks a shift away from the patchwork of national licensing regimes that currently govern crypto ads in some regions.<\/p>\n<p>For crypto platforms already advertising in France, Germany and Finland under local rules, Google has carved out a temporary reprieve. Those national licenses will remain valid until mid-to-late 2025, aligning with each country\u2019s MiCA transition period.<\/p>\n<p>The tech giant said accounts will not be suspended immediately for non-compliance. Instead, it will issue a warning at least seven days before any enforcement action.<\/p>\n<p>Currently several cryptocurrency exchanges have secured a MiCA license, including OKX, Crypto.com, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/01\/27\/bitpanda-secures-mica-license-from-german-regulator\" target=\"_blank\">Bitpanda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/01\/17\/boerse-stuttgart-digital-lands-mi-ca-license-from-germany\" target=\"_blank\">Boerse Stuttgart Digital<\/a>, eToro and others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Search giant Google will only allow cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallets to advertise in the European Union if they hold a license under the EU\u2019s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, starting April 23, the company announced Monday.
