Once a space for early adopters and optimistic HODLers, the market has become a high-stakes PvP playground dominated by institutions, algorithms, and increasingly sophisticated participants.<\/p>\n<p>In this shifting landscape, Shin doesn\u2019t pull punches:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEven if you\u2019re holding some major altcoin, you\u2019re as good as getting liquidated\u2026 it\u2019s just going to zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So, how can regular retail traders hope to perform well in the evolving crypto market space? How can they hope to remain afloat given the rising competition from their professional counterparts? That\u2019s no longer the case.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBack in those days, there were like five tokens\u2026 whatever you buy, the next cycle after the dip would essentially make all of these go back up,\u201d Shin recalled. \u201cNow, every day, we\u2019re seeing just infinite amount of token[s] getting minted and supplied into the market.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The simplicity of the past\u2014where scarcity alone drove value\u2014is gone. With millions of random altcoins flooding exchanges and utility increasingly questioned, today\u2019s retail investor must compete in a saturated market.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re basically going to zero, but the chances are you will not recover it,\u201d Shin said bluntly. \u201cSo where do you exit?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He likens holding spot crypto in today\u2019s market to being in a leveraged position in perpetual contracts. \u201cThat\u2019s basically your maintenance margin.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Challenges of the Modern-Day Exchange Space<\/h3>\n<p>Shin spoke about some of the pressing challenges and pressure points of the modern-day exchange space.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe exchange space is super crowded and congested\u2026 If you open up 50 exchange applications, 49 of them would look the same with different colors.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While the surface-level competition is fierce, Shin argues that meaningful innovation is rare. Some platforms chase listing fees or volume without improving user experience. The result? Overwhelmed retail users facing complex financial products with little guidance.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe try to solve [that] a lot of the exchange products still for retail users\u2026 are just plain out hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In an era when institutions dominate price movement and arbitrage opportunities vanish in milliseconds, exchanges need to do more than display candlestick charts and flashing prices \u2014 they need to empower retail with insight.<\/p>\n<h3>Context, Not Just Candles<\/h3>\n<p>But what does that even mean? For Shin, it\u2019s not just about real-time price feeds\u2014it\u2019s about context.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want users to just see, \u2018Oh, Bitcoin just crashed.\u2019 We want to give more contextual information that would help them make a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He points to examples like macroeconomic announcements or regulatory changes that immediately influence prices but are often disconnected from what users see in their apps. A notification that Bitcoin has dropped $2,000 is meaningless without knowing why.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">He acknowledges that trading isn\u2019t just about tools\u2014it\u2019s also about emotions. <\/span><\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTrading is a very lonely activity,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re with this crowd or community\u2026 but it still feels like you\u2019re alone.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is where social trading comes in and Shin said that it might now make you win better but it will definitely make you feel better.<\/p>\n<h3>The Inevitable Maturity of Crypto Markets<\/h3>\n<p>The golden age of \u201ceveryone wins\u201d is over.
