{"id":22585,"date":"2025-04-17T15:16:32","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T15:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=22585"},"modified":"2025-04-17T15:16:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T15:16:32","slug":"oklahoma-out-of-strategic-bitcoin-reserve-race-after-senate-tax-committee-rejects-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=22585","title":{"rendered":"Oklahoma Out Of Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Race After Senate Tax Committee Rejects Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oklahoma\u2019s Senate has voted against the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR) bill introduced in January, leaving it out of the race to establish crypto-based reserves at the state level in the US.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oklahoma Exits Bitcoin Reserve Race<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Monday, Oklahoma dropped out of the Strategic Bitcoin (BTC) Reserve race after the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee rejected the proposed legislation despite a Republican majority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In January, Oklahoma <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/oklahoma-becomes-6th-state-to-embrace-bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener \">became<\/a> the sixth state to introduce a BTC Reserve policy in the US. State House Representative Cody Maynard proposed House Bill 1203 (HB1203), the Strategic BTC Reserve Act, to allow Oklahoma\u2019s state savings accounts and pension funds to invest in digital assets like BTC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bill would have allowed the State Treasurer and state retirement funds to hold digital assets through a secure custody solution, managed by a qualified custodian, or invested in exchange-traded products, and mandated that any taxes or fees paid in BTC be transferred to the State General Fund and reimbursed in US currency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oklahoma was among the SBR race leaders, tied with Texas as the second most advanced state in the legislative process. None of these bills are guaranteed to pass or fail. Bitcoiners (you) can make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">US States\u2019 Crypto Legalization Continues<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oklahoma became the latest state to dismiss its SBR plans, joining <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/utahs-bitcoin-strategic-reserve-race-over-senate-passes-bill-but-makes-key-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener \">Utah<\/a>, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s worth noting that another crypto-related legislation remains live in Oklahoma\u2019s Senate. As reported by Bitcoinist, Republican state senator Dusty Deevers <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/oklahoma-senator-introduces-bitcoin-freedom-act-to-allow-btc-payments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener \">introduced<\/a> a bill in January allowing Oklahoma employees, residents, and businesses to accept BTC payments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senate Bill 325 (SB325) aims to allow employees to choose BTC as a payment method and allow vendors to accept BTC for goods and services, offering Oklahomans an opportunity to protect their salaries and investments from inflation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bill seeks to \u201cestablish a framework for the secure use of Bitcoin by the State of Oklahoma, private businesses, and individual residents,\u201d authorize Bitcoin as an acceptable medium for transactions, salaries, and investments, and ensure participation is \u201centirely voluntary, respecting the free-market principles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonetheless, the legislation has not advanced since February, when it was referred to the Technology and Telecommunications Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With no other SBR-related bill in the state, the race continues to be <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/arizona-leads-bitcoin-reserve-race-as-two-bills-pass-house-commerce-committee-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener \">led<\/a> by Arizona\u2019s SB1025 and SB1373, New Hampshire\u2019s HB302, and Texas\u2019s SB21.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-450215 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=980&amp;resize=980%2C533\" alt=\"bitcoin, btc, btcusdt\" width=\"980\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=1101 1101w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=640 640w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=768 768w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=980 980w, https:\/\/bitcoinist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/BTCUSDT_2025-04-16_09-43-23.png?w=750 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oklahoma\u2019s Senate has voted against the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR) bill introduced in January, leaving it out of the race to establish crypto-based reserves at the state level in the US.
