Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson used the closing minutes of a wide-ranging \u201cask-me-anything\u201d session on Wednesday to give the community a granular look at two long-running alliance talks that have often generated more speculation than substance: a multisided collaboration with Ripple\u2019s XRP ecosystem and an oracle integration with Chainlink.<\/p>\n

Hoskinson, responding to a viewer who asked, \u201cCharles, are partnerships of Ripple and Chainlink still being discussed?\u201d, made it clear that progress has been uneven. \u201cRipple, yes. Chainlink we\u2019re working hard on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

XRP Integration Makes Progress<\/h2>\n

On Ripple, Hoskinson sounded decidedly upbeat, describing a concrete roadmap that reaches from native wallet support to token distribution and a new role for Ripple\u2019s forthcoming RLUSD stablecoin. He confirmed that \u201cwe\u2019re going to add XRP support for Lace, so if you\u2019re an XRP user you can hold your XRP in the Lace wallet,\u201d referring to IOG\u2019s flagship light wallet launched last year.<\/p>\n

He went further, noting that \u201cXRP is going to be part of the Midnight airdrop<\/a>,\u201d the privacy-focused sidechain announced by Input Output Global. Even the stablecoin is on the table: \u201cwe\u2019re in talks with RLUSD<\/a> so I mean, uh, that\u2019s as good as it gets,\u201d he said, hinting that Cardano infrastructure might natively support Ripple\u2019s fiat-pegged asset.<\/p>\n

Hoskinson attributed the new momentum partly to personal rapport inside Ripple\u2019s technical brain-trust. \u201cDavid Schwarz<\/a> just invited me to speak at one of their conferences and we\u2019re on very good terms,\u201d he disclosed.
\nThe founder also revealed that \u201cthe Flare [Network] people want to come to Cardano and do oracles with us,\u201d underscoring that the partnership has broadened beyond Ripple and broadens to the entire XRP Ledger ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Chainlink Progress Remains Trapped<\/h2>\n

The conversation took a different turn when Hoskinson addressed Chainlink. Although he stressed that relations remain cordial\u2014\u201cI have [Sergey] Nazarov\u2019s private number\u2026 we meet and we\u2019re like \u2018Yeah, we need to work together\u2019\u201d\u2014the substance of the collaboration still hangs in limbo.<\/p>\n

Chainlink, he explained, \u201chas us on the list for integration\u201d and is migrating to \u201csome new framework that\u2019s kind of like Rosetta with Coinbase to do these integrations.\u201d The result is a moving target: \u201cfor some reason it\u2019s just always like three to six months off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hoskinson dismissed any notion that the delay stems from politics or money. \u201cThere\u2019s no component of it where there\u2019s an interpersonal issue\u2026 there\u2019s no component where there\u2019s an economic issue,\u201d he insisted. Instead, he pointed to Chainlink\u2019s bifurcated codebase\u2014\u201cthey have like a legacy way of doing it [and] they\u2019re moving towards a new way\u201d\u2014which makes it \u201chard to predict\u2026 what the integration\u2019s going to take.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even staffing up the effort has not forced the process across the finish line. \u201cNo matter how many people I throw at it\u2026 it just, for some reason, doesn\u2019t get over the line,\u201d he admitted, conceding that Cardano is \u201ckind of in this no man\u2019s land\u201d while it waits for Chainlink\u2019s next-generation tooling to stabilize.<\/p>\n

Despite the frustration, Hoskinson reiterated his desire for Chainlink to become a premier oracle on Cardano, though he added that \u201cthere\u2019s also Pyth [Network] and then there\u2019s Flare and others\u201d in play. He softened the critique with an anecdote about the two founders\u2019 similarities, quipping that \u201cSergey and I\u2026 have the same fashion style, we have the same beard, we\u2019re the same body mass\u2026 there\u2019s no bad blood.\u201d<\/p>\n
