Earlier this month, Vermont-based asset manager Teucrium made headlines by <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/heres-when-teucriums-leveraged-xrp-etf-will-go-live-in-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">becoming<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the first to introduce such a financial vehicle in the world\u2019s biggest economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Its product, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">called<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF (XXRP), was listed on NYSE Arca and offers investors leveraged exposure to the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">daily price movements of the cryptocurrency<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> It had a solid start, generating approximately $5 million in trading volume on its debut day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just a<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> few days ago, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the launch of three additional XRP ETFs, all issued by ProShares. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Ultra XRP ETF, Short XRP ETF, and Ultra Short XRP ETF were expected to go live on April 30, but James Seyffart (a research analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence) later <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/major-ripple-etf-update-watch-this-date-if-you-hold-xrp\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">debunked<\/a> that information. He said the actual launch will likely happen in \u201cthe short or possibly medium term.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheCryptoSquire\/status\/1917461285643407713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">updated filings<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> with the securities regulator, the products in question will become available <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">on May 14<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The investment vehicles from Teucrium and ProShares are futures-based, offering investors exposure to XRP\u2019s price through derivatives. Unlike spot ETFs, they don\u2019t hold real tokens, raising the question of when a spot one will finally see the light of day in America.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Decision Delayed<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> big names lining up for approval to launch a spot XRP ETF <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">include Grayscale, Franklin Templeton, 21Shares, WisdomTree, Bitwise, and more<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Such a product (if it receives the green light from the SEC) will make it easier for investors to gain exposure to Ripple\u2019s native token. After all, purchasing a spot ETF is as simple as buying stocks, and everything is handled through authorized brokerage accounts. In the aftermath, investors own shares of the fund, which <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">in turn<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> purchases and stores the actual cryptocurrency to back their holdings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The SEC recently underwent significant leadership changes, with Paul Atkins <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/us-senate-approves-paul-atkins-as-new-sec-chairman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">becoming<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the new Chairman. He has shown a pro-crypto stance in the past, which gave the Ripple community high hopes that the approval of a spot XRP ETF might be on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, the Commission poured cold water on those expectations (at least for the moment). <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/sec-delays-decision-on-spot-ripple-dogecoin-etf-applications\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">delayed<\/a> its decision on <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the product proposed by Franklin Templeton<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and set a new deadline of June 17.<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For her part,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Fox Business\u2019s Eleanor Terrett noted that the date is \u201cintermediate,\u201d suggesting that another delay will not come as a surprise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Despite the SEC\u2019s recent decision, the approval odds remain high. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eric Balchunas (Senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg) <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/1917444433282490606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">estimated<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> an 85% probability of such a product going<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0live sometime in 2025.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/polymarket.com\/event\/ripple-etf-approved-in-2025?tid=1746008481226\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\"> According<\/a> to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Polymarket<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the chance is around 80%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-xrp-etf-news-april-30-everything-you-need-to-know\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ripple (XRP) ETF News April 30: Everything You Need to Know<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">CryptoPotato<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TL;DR Teucrium and ProShares received regulatory approval to launch futures-based XRP ETFs in the US.
