The asset traded 330% higher on the year to start off May, and here\u2019s why it could go even higher.<\/p>\n<h3>XRP Buyers in The Money<\/h3>\n<p>Even crypto traders who bought XRP on New Year\u2019s Eve just before the height of the crypto bull run in January were up around 5% to start the month.<\/p>\n<p>But, Ripple\u2019s flagship payments coin didn\u2019t fare as well as Bitcoin during the recovery rally in April. As May got rolling, XRP was up 4% on the one-month view, and BTC was up 13.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Still, XRP didn\u2019t do as badly as Ethereum in April, its other biggest competitor, with ETH down some 3% for the month\u2019s trading. Here are four fresh signals for May that Ripple prices could be about spring.<\/p>\n<h2>1. XRP Bullish Inverse Bear and Shoulders Pattern<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24XRP&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">$XRP<\/a> looks to be breaking out of an inverse head and shoulders pattern, with a potential upside target between $2.70 and $2.90. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TXjQ6zhnND\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/TXjQ6zhnND<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ali (@ali_charts) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ali_charts\/status\/1916787976232988739?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">April 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Ripple has a strong bullish chart pattern that showed up on its price graph in April. That could mean that buyers could get a quick boost to their currency exchange rate overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Popular crypto X chart technical analyst Ali Martinez wrote in a post on Apr. 28 that XRP\u2019s price \u201clooks to be breaking out of an inverse head and shoulders pattern.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ali Charts, as he goes by on X, identified a possible upside target range for Ripple prices between $2.70 and $2.90. That could represent an increase of over 30% compared to the start of May.<\/p>\n<p>While that may seem staggering by stock market standards, this sort of performance is not unusual for many altcoins like XRP.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Eric Trump Slams SWIFT, Banks \u2018Could Be Extinct\u2019<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/14.0.0\/72x72\/26a0.png\" alt=\"\u26a0\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"> YOU\u2019RE FRUSTRATED WITH XRP.<\/p>\n<p>We get it.<\/p>\n<p>Private ledgers. There\u2019s not a week that goes by that I\u2019m not either trying to send out a wire on a Friday afternoon or receive a wire on a Friday afternoon, and you\u2019re worried if you\u2019re going to hit that 4 o\u2019clock cutoff time, where you might not see whatever funds your supposed to be receiving in the ordinary course of business for another 72 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>SWIFT is potentially Ripple\u2019s greatest competitor in terms of market share for its XRP tokens. If Ripple manages to capture just a fraction of the older system\u2019s trillion-dollar volume, exchange markets would likely reward its payments currency.<\/p>\n<h2>3. He said there\u2019s a \u201cgood chance\u201d of all the applications happening in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>XRP\u2019s odds of approval in Bloomberg\u2019s view went up to 85% in the latest SEC ETF approval forecast. That growing momentum toward trading in regulated Wall Street funds is bullish for XRP prices.<\/p>\n<p>When Bitcoin went live on a host of ETFs in Jan. 2024, its price went on a spectacular multi-month rally to a new historic record high. So institutional adoption at this scale is particularly interesting to capital markets.<\/p>\n<p>The Securities and Exchange Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/files\/rules\/sro\/cboebzx\/2025\/34-102944.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">is aiming<\/a> for Jun. 17 to take next steps. So markets will be watching closely for potential <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-price-analysis\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">XRP news<\/a> developments around that time.<\/p>\n<p>It could be that a new direction or different timeline for approving a bevy of XRP ETF products may shed new information on current market valuations.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two issuers <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ripple-xrp-etf-news-april-30-everything-you-need-to-know\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">received SEC<\/a> approval to launch futures XRP ETFs in April. That could be a test of Wall Street demand for the new XRP ETFs when they get the green light.<\/p>\n<h2>4. XRP Moving Averages \u2018Strong Buy\u2019 to Start May<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s not just chart technical signals, favorable political winds, and regulatory clearance supporting a bullish outlook on Ripple in May. There\u2019s also the market price chart technical signals.<\/p>\n<p>According to TradingView data, XRP is a Strong Buy over the one-month time scale on the basis of all its moving averages.
