{"id":27527,"date":"2025-05-19T17:01:34","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T17:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=27527"},"modified":"2025-05-19T17:01:34","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T17:01:34","slug":"14-years-too-late-u-s-downgrade-pushes-long-borrowing-costs-over-5-senate-likely-to-pass-stablecoin-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=27527","title":{"rendered":"14 Years Too Late &#8211; U.S. Downgrade Pushes Long Borrowing Costs Over 5%, Senate Likely To Pass Stablecoin Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thearorareport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-05-19_08h10_29.png\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>To gain an edge, this is what you need to know today.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Take More Partial Profits On Tactical Trades<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Consider continuing to take partial profits on tactical trades that were initiated near the April lows.<\/p>\n<p>Out of an abundance of caution, our Protection Band is being raised.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>U.S. Downgraded<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/thearorareport.com\/stock-market-chart-analysis-us-downgrade-treasury-yields-tlt-mc-05192025\">click here<\/a> for an enlarged chart of <strong>iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF<\/strong> (NASDAQ:<a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/stock\/TLT#NASDAQ\">TLT<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Note the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The chart shows Treasuries were almost out of the danger zone marked on the chart.<\/li>\n<li>The chart shows Treasuries have fallen below the danger zone on Moody&#8217;s downgrading U.S. debt.<\/li>\n<li>The chart shows Treasuries are now in zone 4 (support).<\/li>\n<li>The chart shows Treasuries have not been this low since Fall 2023.<\/li>\n<li>Here is a historical perspective of what happened when Standard &amp; Poor&#8217;s downgraded U.S. debt in August 2011.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The next trading session S&amp;P 500 fell 6.7%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 5.6%.<\/li>\n<li>Over the following weeks, the market experienced heightened volatility with consecutive days with 4+% swings in either direction.<\/li>\n<li>The stock market dropped more than 20%, technically entering a bear market for a short period.<\/li>\n<li>By December 31, 2011, the market ended the year roughly flat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>In our analysis, the impact of the downgrade is likely to be muted and very different from 2011 for the following reasons:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Moody&#8217;s is simply 14 years too late.\u00a0 Based on the data, Moody&#8217;s should have downgraded U.S. debt in 2011.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>There is no new information in Moody&#8217;s downgrade.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>In 2011, the S&amp;P 500 downgrade was a shock.\u00a0 Now, there is nothing new here.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Stock market bulls are pinning their hopes on President Trump&#8217;s &#8220;big beautiful bill.&#8221;\u00a0 The House Budget Committee advanced the reconciliation bill.\u00a0 The bill includes both tax cuts and spending cuts and a debt ceiling increase.\u00a0 The House will likely vote later this week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The momo crowd is now more powerful than ever.\u00a0 The momo crowd does not do any analysis and does not take risk &#8230;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/markets\/cryptocurrency\/25\/05\/45500176\/14-years-too-late-u-s-downgrade-pushes-long-borrowing-costs-over-5-senate-likely-to-pass-s\" alt=\"14\" years too late u.s. downgrade pushes long borrowing costs over senate likely to pass stablecoin bill>Full story available on Benzinga.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To gain an edge, this is what you need to know today.
