However, its plans to go public might not go forward since two crypto giants are supposedly willing to acquire it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to a recent Fortune <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/05\/19\/circle-internet-coinbase-ripple-goldman-sachs-ipos-cryptocurrency-mergers-sp-500\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a>, Ripple and Coinbase are ready to pour billions of dollars into a takeover. The coverage became one of the hottest topics in the crypto space, and numerous X users contributed with diverse opinions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Paul Barron \u2013 an angel investor with over 160,000 followers on the social media platform \u2013 <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/paulbarron\/status\/1924537163061887483?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1924537163061887483%7Ctwgr%5E7345106c3cb755ac35d0d9fa107afd6808b550c2%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthecryptobasic.com%2F2025%2F05%2F20%2Fripple-reportedly-proposes-11b-in-cash-and-xrp-to-outbid-coinbase-over-circle-acquisition%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">claimed<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that, according to some sources, Ripple has the upper hand. He also argued that the deal\u2019s price tag might exceed $10 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just weeks ago, several reports <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/why-was-ripples-5-billion-takeover-offer-rejected-by-circle-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hinted<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that the company <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">made an offer of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> around $4-$5 billion to acquire Circle, which the latter supposedly rejected for being too low. Subsequent rumors suggested that Ripple later raised the bar to $20 billion, but those have not been officially confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fortune\u2019s coverage claims that Circle prefers to be acquired by Coinbase. After all, the two have a history of collaboration. In 2018, they <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/blog\/coinbase-and-circle-announce-the-launch-of-usdc-a-digital-dollar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">co-founded<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the Centre Consortium to launch USDC, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the American dollar. However, in 2023, they dissolved the consortium, with Circle assuming <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">full<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> control over the token\u2019s issuance and governance.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ripple Demonstrates Its Financial Power<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company behind XRP has already shown that it <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">has the capacity to<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> ink multi-billion-dollar deals. Earlier this year, it <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/xrp-dumps-10-despite-ripples-1-25b-prime-brokerage-acquisition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">purchased<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the prime brokerage Hidden Road for a whopping $1.25 billion, representing one of the largest settlements ever in the crypto world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cBut the price tag isn\u2019t what\u2019s most important. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> this deal marks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for crypto to access the largest and most trusted traditional markets, and vice versa,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201d <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ripple\u2019s CEO Brad Garlinghouse said at the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The executive also revealed that Hidden Road <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">will<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> use XRPL for post-trade settlement on some transactions, while <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">certain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> analysts explained why the move could be a game-changer for XRP.
