According to a recent conference call, M\u00e9liuz Chairman Israel Salmen likened Bitcoin to a \u201cnuclear reactor\u201d after the company\u2019s stock saw a sudden surge.<\/p>\n

The fintech firm won shareholder approval to become Brazil\u2019s first Bitcoin treasury company. Shareholders backed the shift by a large margin.<\/p>\n

Salmen said the move marks a new path for M\u00e9liuz, one that ties the firm\u2019s health directly to the performance of Bitcoin<\/a> per share. It was a bold turn that has already caught the eye of investors at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

M\u00e9liuz Builds Bitcoin Treasury<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Based on reports, M\u00e9liuz<\/a> paid about $28.4 million last week to acquire 274.52\u202fBTC. Those coins join an existing stash of 45.78\u202fBTC, bringing the total to 320 BTC.<\/p>\n

Salmen noted that the firm plans to add more coins in an \u201caccretive way,\u201d using different financial tools. It\u2019s not a hedge against market swings, he said.<\/p>\n

Stock Rally Fuels Interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n

According to data shared by VanEck\u2019s Matthew Sigel, M\u00e9liuz stock jumped from R$3.00 in mid\u2011February 2025 to R$10.70 by mid\u2011May.<\/p>\n

Trading volume spiked in April, giving the rally fresh muscle. That kind of price move turns heads. Some traders say it\u2019s a sign that linking the stock to Bitcoin could pay off.<\/p>\n

Others warn that a pullback in Bitcoin would hit M\u00e9liuz hard. Still, the stock run has put the firm on the map.<\/p>\n


\nPeers See Similar Gains<\/strong><\/p>\n

Based on market reports, Semler Scientific\u2019s stock climbed 40% over a month, rising $12.53 to close at $42.36 on May\u202f19.<\/p>\n

The US\u2011listed firm said it posted a 22% BTC yield year\u2011to\u2011date as of May\u202f12, adding 510\u202fBTC and $52\u202fmillion in dollar gains. And in a broader move, Strategy saw its share price rise 26% from $317 to $400 as of May\u202f19.<\/p>\n

\"Bitcoin\"<\/p>\n

Strategy<\/a> remains the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, controlling 576,230\u202fBTC valued at roughly $59.57\u202fbillion. The company reported a gain of 73,120\u202fBTC year\u2011to\u2011date, a 12% increase, and 140,538\u202fBTC gains in 2024, equal to 24% of its holdings or about $13\u202fbillion in paper profit.<\/p>\n

El Salvador\u2019s Crypto Windfall<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to social media updates from President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador\u2019s national Bitcoin fund now holds 6,181\u202fBTC. The coins cost $287.1\u202fmillion when bought, and their value today tops $640\u202fmillion.<\/p>\n
