The leaderboard appears on a website <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1880446012168249386\">publicized by Trump<\/a> on his X account.<\/p>\n<p>Sun is also a backer of World Liberty Financial, the decentralized finance project backed by the Trump family, having invested invested $75 million. The project\u2019s co-founder, Zak Folkman, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/consensus-hong-kong-2025-coverage\/2025\/02\/19\/founder-of-trump-s-world-liberty-financial-credits-justin-sun-for-project-s-success\">credited the Chinese-born crypto billionaire for its success.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The TRUMP token debuted just days before the president&#8217;s inauguration in January and was met with criticism from across the crypto industry and elsewhere. Critics pointed to its timing of the launch and its structure, which allocates a large portion of the supply to Trump-affiliated insiders.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic lawmakers, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/05\/14\/top-democrats-demand-treasury-info-on-trumps-crypto-deals-citing-bribery-risks\">argued that Trump\u2019s crypto effort <\/a>is eroding ethical norms. They\u2019ve introduced bills to block public officials from launching or endorsing digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>The White House responded to the scrutiny by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/05\/07\/trump-crypto-stablecoin-bill\">downplaying it<\/a>, rejecting allegations of conflicts of interest and framing the criticism as partisan disruption.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s memecoin, it\u2019s worth noting, saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/04\/26\/trump-tokens-85-weekly-surge-defies-democrats-call-for-impeachment-massive-unlocks\">a major price rise <\/a>over the event\u2019s announcement.
