{"id":28107,"date":"2025-05-22T13:31:50","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T13:31:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=28107"},"modified":"2025-05-22T13:31:50","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T13:31:50","slug":"u-s-stablecoin-bill-approval-could-trigger-a-long-term-crypto-bull-market-bitwise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=28107","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Stablecoin Bill Approval Could Trigger a Long-Term Crypto Bull Market: Bitwise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Progress on the stablecoin bill in the U.S. could lead to a multi-year crypto bull market, asset manager Bitwise said in a report Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate agreed to advance the GENIUS Act to a final vote on Monday, the report noted, which means that the U.S. could pass its first piece of crypto legislation this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Outside of the January 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/01\/10\/bitcoin-etfs-win-sec-approval-bringing-easier-access-to-biggest-cryptocurrency\">approval of spot bitcoin ETFs<\/a>, this is the most important regulatory development in the history of crypto. It may even be bigger,&#8221; wrote Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/learn\/what-is-a-stablecoin\">Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies<\/a> whose value is tied to another asset, such as the U.S. dollar or gold. They play a major role in cryptocurrency markets and are also used to transfer money internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/opinion\/2025\/02\/10\/why-we-need-a-bipartisan-stablecoin-bill\">Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act<\/a> mandates federal regulation for stablecoins with a market cap of over $10 billion with the potential for state regulation if it aligns with federal rules. The House of Representatives&#8217; STABLE Act calls for state regulation without any conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Bitwise noted that stablecoin issuers have to follow a number of regulations but there is no &#8220;overarching federal framework.&#8221; The GENIUS Act provides that regulatory framework.<\/p>\n<p>Once approved, this could set the stage for a long-term rally in crypto assets other than just bitcoin BTC, Bitwise said, and the biggest potential beneficiaries are ether ETH, solana SOL and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2022\/01\/20\/understanding-defi-and-its-importance-in-the-crypto-economy\">decentralized finance<\/a> (DeFi) assets such as uniswap UNI and aave AAVE.<\/p>\n<p>The stablecoin market could reach $2.5 trillion in size in no time, from $245 billion currently, the report added.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/05\/12\/stablecoins-to-go-mainstream-in-2025-after-us-regulatory-progress-deutsche-bank\">Stablecoins to Go Mainstream in 2025 After U.S. Regulatory Progress: Deutsche Bank<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Progress on the stablecoin bill in the U.S. could lead to a multi-year crypto bull market, asset manager Bitwise said in a report Tuesday.
