{"id":28791,"date":"2025-05-27T13:01:57","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=28791"},"modified":"2025-05-27T13:01:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:01:57","slug":"blockchain-com-to-expand-across-africa-as-crypto-regulation-begins-to-take-shape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=28791","title":{"rendered":"Blockchain.com to Expand Across Africa as Crypto Regulation Begins to Take Shape"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Blockchain.com, a cryptocurrency exchange and wallet provider, is expanding into parts of Africa where crypto regulation is beginning to solidify.<\/p>\n<p>The company is focusing on Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, and plans to open a physical office in Nigeria this quarter, citing it as its fastest-growing market in West Africa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-05-27\/crypto-exchange-blockchain-com-seeks-to-expand-in-nigeria-ghana?srnd=homepage-americas&amp;sref=3REHEaVI\">Bloomberg reports.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nigeria recently passed a new investment and securities law, which includes provisions for licensing and regulating cryptocurrency exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria has taken meaningful steps toward creating a clear framework for crypto,\u201d said Owenize Odia, Blockchain.com\u2019s general manager for Africa. \u201cApplying for a crypto-exchange license in Nigeria is a top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other countries are also laying the groundwork. The Bank of Ghana released draft <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bog.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Draft-Guidelines-on-Digital-Assets.pdf\">guidelines last year <\/a>.
