At the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, Nigel Farage, the leading candidate in the UK\u2019s upcoming general election, announced a plan to establish a Bitcoin reserve within the Bank of England if he assumes office. During a fireside chat with Frank Corva on the event\u2019s third day, Farage revealed groundbreaking details of his vision for the UK\u2019s cryptocurrency future.<\/p>\n

UK To Establish A Bitcoin Reserve Under Farage\u2019s Lead<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be here today but to announce that rather than just words, we have put together\u2014this is exclusive for today\u2014the crypto assets and digital finance bill,\u201d Farage began<\/a>. \u201cMonths of work, ladies and gentlemen, we will campaign for this and we\u2019ll put it in place when we win the next general election.\u201d<\/p>\n

Central to Farage\u2019s proposal is the creation of a Bitcoin reserve in the Bank of England. \u201cWe are going to have a Bitcoin digital reserve in the Bank of England<\/a>,\u201d he declared. \u201cAnd we are going to pass legislation that says that no bank can close your account because you\u2019re trading in legal crypto or digital products.\u201d This initiative would directly address the growing concern of \u201cdebanking\u201d\u2014where individuals are denied banking services due to their involvement with cryptocurrency. As Farage emphasized, \u201cNo more debanking, ladies and gentlemen.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his speech, Farage pointed to the UK\u2019s stagnation in embracing the digital financial revolution. \u201cSeven million people in Britain have got crypto assets. One in four people under 30 have got crypto assets. And yet, our outdated Labour and Conservative governments have done nothing in this space at all.\u201d He framed the potential reforms as a much-needed step to bring the UK into the 21st century, positioning the nation as a leader in the global crypto ecosystem. \u201cWe are going to launch, in Britain, a crypto revolution. We\u2019re going to make London one of the major trading centers of the world,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

Farage also reflected on the broader international context, particularly the United States\u2019 current stance on crypto. \u201cWhat this administration has done to embrace this whole area, to give real oxygen and real energy to the whole digital world is nothing short of fantastic,\u201d Farage noted.<\/p>\n

A key point of Farage\u2019s platform is his advocacy for national and individual sovereignty. Drawing parallels between his campaign for Brexit and Bitcoin\u2019s potential for personal freedom, Farage highlighted his consistent belief in reducing governmental interference. \u201cBitcoin is the ultimate freedom from big government,\u201d he stated, explaining that the growing control of governments and bureaucracies\u2014evidenced by movements like the push for Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)<\/a>\u2014was something to resist.<\/p>\n

Farage expressed strong opposition to the Bank of England\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop a British version of a CBDC, dubbed \u201cBritcoin<\/a>.\u201d He described it as \u201cthe ultimate form of tyranny,\u201d voicing his concerns about government surveillance and control over individuals\u2019 financial lives. \u201cWhen we win the next election, there\u2019ll be a CBDC over my dead body,\u201d he declared firmly.<\/p>\n

The conversation also touched on Farage\u2019s personal experience with \u201cdebanking,\u201d a topic that has shaped much of his passion for Bitcoin. Farage, who became a high-profile victim of debanking, explained how he was denied banking services by ten different banks, solely due to his political views and involvement in crypto. \u201cIt was a very, very scary experience,\u201d Farage admitted. \u201cBut I fought back. I fought back publicly, and I won.\u201d<\/p>\n
