{"id":30081,"date":"2025-06-03T22:47:37","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T22:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=30081"},"modified":"2025-06-03T22:47:37","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T22:47:37","slug":"congressman-buys-up-to-850k-in-bitcoin-in-2025-late-disclosure-close-trump-ties-wave-red-flags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=30081","title":{"rendered":"Congressman Buys Up To $850K In Bitcoin In 2025: Late Disclosure, Close Trump Ties Wave Red Flags"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A congressman has disclosed buying <strong>Bitcoin <\/strong>(CRYPTO: <a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/btc\/usd\">BTC<\/a>) on four occasions in 2025, with some of the trades happening past the 45-day window, adding to the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/politics\/25\/04\/45077654\/bill-named-after-nancy-pelosi-could-ban-congress-members-from-trading-stocks-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-pelosi-act\">calls to ban members<\/a> of Congress from buying and selling stocks and other investments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Happened: <\/strong>A bill that would ban members of Congress from buying stocks and options may not apply to cryptocurrency purchases, which could be good news for members <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/markets\/cryptocurrency\/25\/04\/45018551\/senator-on-digital-assets-committee-buys-more-bitcoin-etf-shares-2025-is-the-year-for-digital-assets\">who have bought<\/a> Bitcoin, meme coins and Bitcoin ETFs.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. <strong>Brandon Gill<\/strong> (R-Texas), a close ally of President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>, is the latest member of Congress to disclose buying cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Gill disclosed the following Bitcoin purchases, with their transaction dates listed below:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jan. 29, 2025<\/strong>: $100,000 to $250,000 BTC<\/li>\n<li><strong>Feb. 27, 2025<\/strong>: $100,000 to $250,000 BTC<\/li>\n<li><strong>May 13, 2025: <\/strong>$100,000 to $250,000 BTC<\/li>\n<li><strong>May 18, 2025:<\/strong> $50,000 to $100,000 BTC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In total, Gill has added between $350,000 and $850,000 in Bitcoin to his investment portfolio, with the trades tracked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/gov-trades\/members\/brandon-gill\">Benzinga&#8217;s Government Trades page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The big problem with the disclosure is that Gill didn&#8217;t disclose the January and February purchase until now, which is far beyond the 45-day window members of Congress have to make disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Congressman Gill bought $850k worth of Bitcoin this year, &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/crypto\/cryptocurrency\/25\/06\/45761254\/congressman-buys-up-to-850k-in-bitcoin-in-2025-late-disclosure-close-trump-ties-wave-red-fl\" alt=\"Congressman\" buys up to in bitcoin late disclosure close trump ties wave red flags>Full story available on Benzinga.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A congressman has disclosed buying Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) on four occasions in 2025, with some of the trades happening past the 45-day window, adding to the recent calls to ban members of Congress from buying and selling stocks and other investments.
