However, they seem to be making a comeback in Asia, at least.<\/p>\n<p>Several Asian countries have had success in their CBDC tests and pilot projects. India\u2019s CBDC pilot programme, for example, has had success in providing tenant farmers in the country with direct agricultural loans.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is considering a cross-border CBDC pilot as E-Rupee circulation has crossed Rs. 1016 crore (over $118 million) from Rs. 232 crore (approximately $27 million) in 2024. It is also considering entering into multilateral CBDC initiatives through the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) innovation hub.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the RBI is <a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/rbidocs.rbi.org.in\/rdocs\/PressRelease\/PDFs\/PR4263A78A57BF20544C48E05EA5B31C6B368.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">mulling<\/a> expanding the use cases and scope of both e-rupee retail and e-rupee wholesale pilots. Plans are in place to improve the technical aspects of the aggregator framework to further enhance transparency, convenience and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Other Asian countries are warming up to CBDCs as well.
