{"id":30444,"date":"2025-06-05T16:52:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T16:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=30444"},"modified":"2025-06-05T16:52:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T16:52:09","slug":"easya-promises-even-bigger-hackathon-after-record-breaking-success-at-consensus-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=30444","title":{"rendered":"EasyA Promises Even Bigger Hackathon After Record-Breaking Success at Consensus 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The EasyA Consensus Hackathon, hosted on May 14-16 in Toronto, was the largest blockchain-related hackathon in North American history \u2014 and its organizers, brothers Phil and Dom Kwok, are planning on going even bigger next year in Miami.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had some really good results, really cool projects,\u201d the duo told CoinDesk in an interview recently. Over 1,000 developers joined the event, all of whom were carefully vetted beforehand. Applicants had to demonstrate their coding experience via their GitHub and LinkedIn pages, the aim being to enlist developers with a proven track record. \u201cThat\u2019s why so many of the projects are really outstanding this year,\u201d EasyA chief operating officer Dom Kwok said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The potential prize? Millions of dollars in funding, courtesy of five blockchain networks: Aptos, Stellar, Polkadot, Bahamut and Forte.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The highlight of <a href=\"https:\/\/consensus2025.coindesk.com\/\">the conference<\/a>, however, was when representatives of Universal Studios invited one of the projects (ApTap, which won first place in the <a href=\"https:\/\/aptosfoundation.org\/currents\/consensus-2025-inside-the-aptos-x-easya-hackathon\">Aptos track<\/a>) to showcase what they built to Universal\u2019s executive team in Orlando. \u201cThat was crazy,\u201d EasyA CEO Phil Kwok said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>With a community counting over 1 million developers, EasyA is one of the world\u2019s largest and most popular Web3 learning apps. The firm has organized over 30 hackathons since it was founded in 2019.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The winners of the Toronto hackathon were determined by teams behind the blockchain they were building on. Each network had its own mission statement \u2014 Stellar\u2019s, for example, was \u201cWeb3 UX doesn\u2019t have to suck. Prove it.\u201d The overall goal is to continue funding the winning projects over a long period of time, which means that the bulk of the reward prize is actually distributed further down the line.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.sanity.io\/images\/s3y3vcno\/production\/539e2415097afdbeda491b87492ba425366b05f9-4022x2479.jpg?auto=format\" alt=\"(Consensus 2025)\" title=\"(Consensus 2025)\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDevelopers don\u2019t just come to these hackathons, win prizes and then go on to the next one. Like many others, the goal of our hackathons is to make sure that people actually continue to build and add long-term value to crypto,\u201d Dom Kwok said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>As previously mentioned, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/easya_app\/status\/1924545754607075778\">ApTap<\/a>, a project that makes it extremely easy for users to access their Aptos wallet on their phone, made it to first place on the Aptos track. Stellar\u2019s winner, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/easya_app\/status\/1924546571305197886\">CycleBuddy<\/a>, helps women track their menstrual cycle while earning tokens. On Polkadot, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/easya_app\/status\/1924565301959528537\">Sutanpu<\/a>, an app that enables travellers to mint NFTs of the places they visit, took the crown. Bahamut, a relatively new blockchain, gave the big prize to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/easya_app\/status\/1924589368833892854\">NameVault<\/a>, a decentralized naming service akin to Ethereum\u2019s ENS Domains.
