President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s transition team is reportedly considering the creation of a dedicated White House position to oversee crypto policy, and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has presented whom he thinks is the perfect pick for this role. According to sources familiar with the discussions, candidates are being vetted for what would be the first crypto-specific role at such a high level in the US government, as Bitcoinist reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cardano Founder Proposes Brian Armstrong<\/h2>\n

Over past weeks, Hoskinson has expressed his intention<\/a> to collaborate with the incoming administration to shape a regulatory framework that fosters innovation and industry growth. However, Hoskinson has made it clear that he does not aspire to fill the role of \u201cCrypto Czar\u201d himself. Instead, he has publicly endorsed<\/a> Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, as the ideal candidate for the position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel the role needs to be filled with someone who is neutral, works with all protocols, and has a deep understanding of why crypto is special,\u201d Hoskinson stated on X . He emphasized that Armstrong stands out in the industry for this role, noting that \u201cCoinbase has grown into one of the pillars of crypto and has had to endure the unfair tactics of a government committed to regulation through enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hoskinson believes that Armstrong could \u201cbuild a broad tent coalition to bring the industry together and help us get the government rallied behind real action, including passing new laws.\u201d Rather than seeking the position himself, Hoskinson is focusing his efforts on influencing policy from the legislative branch.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving worked with the legislative branch in Wyoming<\/a> to get 31 crypto laws passed, I\u2019m focusing a ton of my efforts on the House and Senate,\u201d he said. His goal is to facilitate legislative efforts that \u201cwill forever remove the abuses of the current federal government and open the floodgates for the legacy world to enter crypto.\u201d<\/p>\n

To further this agenda, Hoskinson announced plans to launch \u201cOperation Baseline,\u201d a project under his company IO Policy. The initiative aims to survey the American crypto industry to identify areas of waste, abuse, and missed opportunities. \u201cIt\u2019s important that these get transmitted to the new Crypto Czar and the lawmakers so that there are clear business requirements for policy,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Hoskinson underscored the urgency of these efforts, stating that \u201cthe president\u2019s goal is to make America the best place in the world to start and run a cryptocurrency and blockchain business. We as an industry have to come together to make that happen.\u201d He added, \u201cThere are no excuses anymore. The time has come to get this done so that we all can get back to work changing the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
